Despite it being almost 30 years since Lara Croft first burst onto the scene, the Tomb Raider franchise is still alive and kicking and even has a brand-new television adaptation on the way.

The new Tomb Raider series will be something of a passion project for Waller-Bridge who said the following back in May: “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”
With the series still in early development, we don’t know too much about which era of Lara we will follow or where the story will take us.
Most importantly, we don’t yet know who will take on the iconic role.
However, according to a recent report by Deadline, Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner is in negotiations to play Lara Croft.
It was reported last month that Turner was in talks alongside a handful of other actresses.
However, it appears that she is standing out amongst the rest and could bag herself the role if Deadline’s sources are to be believed.
Although the casting has not yet been confirmed, fans of Tomb Raider took to r/television to share their thoughts on its potential.
“I am completely open to being proven wrong, but hot damn, this is a wild miss,” the top comment reads on a post about the news.
Another said: “Yeah, she doesn’t have the vibe of Lara. Hayley Atwell has the right vibe, Vikander did, Jolie did…but maybe she’ll surprise us.”
As this is all just speculation for now, it is worth taking this potential casting with a pinch of salt.
However, with Lara Croft being such a beloved character to many, the wrong casting could be detrimental to the show as a whole.
