The Fellow Travelers and Wicked star is heading back to Mayfair to reprise his role as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.
Dearest gentle readers, it looks like we’re in for some more screen time with our favorite Regency-era viscount.
After Jonathan Bailey appeared as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton in four episodes of Bridgerton season 3, fans of the hit Netflix series were concerned he wouldn’t be back for the show’s highly-anticipated season 4. Well, when speaking to Good Morning America on August 16, he gave a surprise update about whether he is leaving Bridgerton. Not only is Anthony not going anywhere in the series, the Fellow Travelers star confirmed he will be making appearances throughout season 4.
“Well, I look forward to reading the scripts,” he said in a clip posted on TikTok. “The thing about Bridgerton, which is so brilliant, is that there’s so many different ways you can fall in love as
humans and that’s what this show will explore. Obviously being the older brother, I’m going to be there to support the youngsters as we go.”

If that wasn’t enough, the Wicked actor further cemented his Bridgerton status by stating he’s already worked it into his busy schedule (he’s currently filming the upcoming Jurassic World movie, along with preparing to star in Richard II on the West End beginning in February 2025).
“I have a couple of weeks etched out in my schedule for returning,” he added. “So, I’m really excited.”
Naturally, hearing Jonathan confirm his Bridgerton return caused a frenzy among followers on social media.
“I NEED THEM TO START FILMING immediately,” one person wrote in the comments. “THANK GOSH!! I can’t watch this show [without] Anthony and Kate!! My favorite couple with the best chemistry 😍😍💖💖🔥🔥,” another declared, referencing Jonathan’s on-screen relationship with Simone Ashley (who plays his wife, Viscountess Kate Bridgerton). “Appreciate that he doesn’t forget that show and is never too proud to come back,” a different follower added.
Fans may remember Anthony and Kate’s final appearance in Bridgerton season 3 saw them traveling to India ahead of the birth of their first child. The couple also experienced the first months of marriage, which saw them being away from Mayfair as they enjoyed marital bliss.

As for what else folks can expect from Bridgerton season 4, the show will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson)’s road to love with Sophie Beckett (Yerin Ha). Variety also shared the season 4 logline, saying the new season will show “Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
If this isn’t something to get excited about!
