Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in WednesdayMystery, friendship, and a controversial romance are all included in Wednesday season 1 on Netflix, and fans also learn that Jenna Ortega’s character has psychic powers. But rather than explore Wednesday’s magical powers in detail, the show mostly focuses on her visions of the future. Although it’s fun to see the new Nevermore Academy student learn about something big that’s about to happen, her powers are mostly vague. While this is mysterious, it’s not as compelling as it could be.

While Wednesday season 2 should have funny Addams Family scenes and not be afraid of that part of the franchise’s history, the new episodes also need to tell fans more about Wednesday’s psychic abilities. This will make the entire season stronger and also open up new story possibilities if there is a Wednesday season 3.

How Can Wednesday Season 2 Feature The Character’s Powers More Effectively?Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) and Fez in Wednesday

Wednesday season 2 could feature a fascinating storyline where Wednesday Addams is in control of her stalker. This could work since Wednesday season 2 will be more like a horror movie and fans already know that the main focus will be the person who is spying on her. Miles Millar, the co-creator of Wednesday, told Netflix.tudum.com:

“The stalker is just the idea that the threats remain out there. The Crackstone part of it may be gone, but there are certainly other possible threats out there to both Wednesday and the school.”

Since it would feel dull to simply have Wednesday having visions of the stalker or a future event, Wednesday season 2 could switch things up and have Wednesday show her stalker false visions. This would add some humor to the show and also prove how clever Wednesday is. She could buy some time and come up with a plan to trap the stalker and find out who they are. This would still allow Wednesday season 2 to be dark since it’s clear that her life could be at risk but would balance the darkness with some funny scenes. Similarly, Wednesday could learn more about the Nevermore Academy teacher’s pasts, which would allow her to play pranks on them or figure out how to excel in their classes. Her psychic powers should be more closely tied to her rebellious personality.

Wednesday season 2 should also use Wednesday’s powers to help her achieve what she wants. Since she’s a mischievous and smart character, this would fit with her character development so far. Wednesday could also use her ability to see the future to figure out Tyler Galpin’s (Hunter Doohan) true intentions, which would make Tyler’s Wednesday season 2 plotline more compelling as well. Since it’s unclear if he’s really good or evil at this point, using her powers in this way would feel fun, cool, creative, and helpful.

Finally, Wednesday season 2 should have Wednesday be in charge of her psychic powers. The first season explains that she hasn’t always been able to see the future or the past and that she is just learning about this now. But watching the character randomly have visions isn’t as exciting as seeing her conjure up information that she wants to find out. This made the visions less exciting. Any potential plotline in the second season would benefit from Wednesday becoming stronger. She and her peers at Nevermore Academy could also work together more if she was able to figure out when to use her powers. This would allow Wednesday to be even tougher and be in charge of her life if Wednesday season 3 happens.

Which Other Wednesday Season 2 Characters Have Powers?

Bianca in Wednesday

Several Wednesday season 1 characters have powers since they are at Nevermore Academy for that very reason. Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) can make his drawings come true, Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) can shapeshift, and Yoko Tanaka (Naomi J. Ogawa) is a vampire, and of course, Tyler is shown to be The Hyde Monster. The focus of Wednesday season 1 was on Wednesday being an Outcast, which allows her to attend Nevermore since all of the students feel that there is nowhere else that they could feel safe, protected, and welcome. But since Wednesday has powers of her own, she also belongs there.

While those three characters aren’t coming back to Wednesday season 2, two of the most compelling characters with magical powers will return: werewolf Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) is a werewolf and siren Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday). If Enid is in more of Wednesday season 2, then it would make sense if her powers were featured a lot more, and the same is true of Bianca. All three characters need to use their powers more often and in more engaging ways in Wednesday season 2.
