Fallout 5’s release date feels so far away that some are wondering if they’ll even be alive to see it launch.
Fallout 76 launched back in 2018, the same year Bethesda teased The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield as its next two games.
Fallout 76 has gone from zero to hero in that time, with the latest updates actually giving us a reason to play it.
We’re in 2024 now, and while Starfield launched to good reviews but poor player reception, The Elder Scrolls VI is nowhere to be seen, and there’s no word on when there’ll be an update on the game’s progress.
To make matters worse, Bethesda has promised Fallout 5 will be the next game after The Elder Scrolls VI, but given how long it’ll probably be before it releases, it’s looking like another decade before we get to return to the wastelands.
Fans on Reddit have been discussing the game’s potential release window, with some calling it unacceptable that we’re having to wait this long.
One post by Rednaxela623 read: “There hasn’t been a mainline Fallout game in what has almost been nine years, and there won’t be one for at least another five years. Why is this acceptable from a studio that has made as much money as Bethesda?”
Some quickly jumped to the defence of Bethesda, saying, “Bethesda focuses on one main project at a time. After Fallout 4, it was Starfield, then it’s Elder Scrolls VI, then Fallout (probably, not confirmed). So be prepared to wait until like 2033.”
One fan cheekily commented that Fallout 5 is going to “go hard in the retirement home,” and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if it took that long to launch.
It’s anyone’s guess when Fallout 5 is coming out, but knowing Bethesda, it’ll likely be worth the wait.
