Scarlet Witch is one of the MCU’s most popular characters. She started as a villain in the Avengers movies and later joined the team, but eventually, her grief turned her back into a villain.

Her last appearance was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she played the main villain. In the end, she sacrifices herself by collapsing a castle on top of herself, destroying every copy of the Darkhold.

Now, even though Agatha All Along focuses on Agatha, it brings attention back to Scarlet Witch. The show introduces Wanda’s reincarnated son, Billy Maximoff, who could be key to her return.

But why would Wanda come back? Rumor has it that the MCU’s next big storyline will be the Mutant Saga, something Kevin Feige hinted at when Deadpool & Wolverine were announced.

The mutant era in the MCU is starting, and fans are waiting for the X-Men reboot to really kick things off, especially now that Deadpool & Wolverine have introduced mutants to the MCU.

Rumors suggest that after the Multiverse Saga ends, the MCU will dive deeper into supernatural and magical stories. This could include the Blade reboot and possibly a Midnight Sons project. Wanda, or Scarlet Witch, is a big part of Marvel’s magic world, and she also has a complex history with mutants.

Marvel has changed Wanda’s backstory several times. For years, she and her brother Pietro were thought to be Magneto’s children and mutants, connecting them to both the X-Men and Avengers. But in 2014, Marvel changed this, saying Wanda and Pietro weren’t mutants but were altered by the High Evolutionary, meaning Magneto wasn’t their father.

In recent X-Men stories, mutants on Krakoa call Wanda the “Pretender” because they blame her for decreasing the mutant population in the House of M storyline. Since then, Wanda has worked to rebuild her relationship with the mutant community, but in the current comics, she is not officially a mutant.

There’s still an interesting theory that Scarlet Witch could bring mutants into the MCU with a sort of reverse “M-Day” event in which she brings mutants to the MCU instead of erasing them from existence. Wanda makes sense as the link to mutants because she hasn’t had many big mutant storylines, so this could be her way to connect with them.

She might also serve as the main villain due to staging the real M-Day once mutants are introduced to the MCU.

Rumors say Marvel has big plans for Scarlet Witch, including a solo movie, two more WandaVision spinoff series, and a major role in the next Avengers movies and The Mutant Saga. This setup could make her the next big hero—or maybe even a villain.
