Dispatch audio recounts moment Nancy Guthrie reported missing
Authorities in Arizona are urgently searching for Nancy Guthrie, the 84âyearâold mother of âTodayâ show anchor Savannah Guthrie, after investigators said she was taken from her Tucsonâarea home against her will.
Police discovered âsuspicious circumstancesâ at the residence and have designated it a crime scene, noting that Guthrie, who has limited mobility and requires daily medication that could be lifeâsaving, âdidnât just walk out.â
In dispatch audio obtained by Fox News, a sheriffâs dispatcher describes Guthrie as âa white female, 84 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches, medium build, brown over blue,â adding that she suffers from high blood pressure, has a pacemaker and cardiac issues.
Sheriff says no suspect in disappearance of Savannah Guthrieâs mom
Authorities with the Pima County Sheriffâs Department said the evidence collected so far does not point to a suspect.
âWeâve submitted all DNA, but we havenât received anything back to indicate any suspects,â Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said during a news conference Tuesday.
Jon Edwards with the FBIâs office in Tucson and Nanos both said they are still continuing to follow every angle and the hundreds of leads they have on the case. At this time, it is unclear whether Guthrie, 84, was targeted.

Sheriff wonât confirm ransom demand; DNA found at Arizona home
A Ring camera that had been mounted on the front of the home appeared to have been removed, which the sheriff said investigators noticed and are examining.
The home is equipped with several cameras, and detectives are working with technology companies to determine how many cameras were present and whether footage is available. Authorities are also attempting to access data from Guthrieâs pacemaker.
When asked directly whether a ransom demand had been received, Nanos declined to answer specifically, saying only that investigators were receiving âa lot of tips and information.â
The sheriffâs office later acknowledged on social media that it was aware of reports about possible ransom notes and was taking all leads seriously.
Investigators have found signs of forced entry at the Arizona home of âTodayâ show host Savannah Guthrieâs mother. Thatâs according to a person familiar with the investigation who spoke Tuesday to The Associated Press.
The person who spoke to The Associated Press said investigators found specific evidence in the home showing there was a nighttime kidnapping. Several of Guthrieâs personal items, including her cellphone, wallet and car, were still there after she disappeared.

Search teams used drones and search dogs and were supported by volunteers and Border Patrol. The homicide team was also involved, Nanos said, and he acknowledged their involvement was not standard in such cases. The FBI has also offered to help, Carrillo said.

âWe know she did not leave that home on her own and that it was against her will,â Nanos said. âWe donât know that she was harmed.
