Dispatch audio recounts moment Nancy Guthrie reported missing
Authorities in Arizona are urgently searching for Nancy Guthrie, the 84‑year‑old mother of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, after investigators said she was taken from her Tucson‑area home against her will.
Police discovered “suspicious circumstances” at the residence and have designated it a crime scene, noting that Guthrie, who has limited mobility and requires daily medication that could be life‑saving, “didn’t just walk out.”
In dispatch audio obtained by Fox News, a sheriff’s dispatcher describes Guthrie as “a white female, 84 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches, medium build, brown over blue,” adding that she suffers from high blood pressure, has a pacemaker and cardiac issues.
Sheriff says no suspect in disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mom
Authorities with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the evidence collected so far does not point to a suspect.
“We’ve submitted all DNA, but we haven’t received anything back to indicate any suspects,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said during a news conference Tuesday.
Jon Edwards with the FBI’s office in Tucson and Nanos both said they are still continuing to follow every angle and the hundreds of leads they have on the case. At this time, it is unclear whether Guthrie, 84, was targeted.

Detectives collected DNA samples from the home confirmed to belong to Nancy Guthrie, though Nanos would not confirm whether the samples were blood.
NewsNation discovered a blood trail leading from the front door of Nancy Guthrie’s home. The blood was visible outside the front entrance of the rural Tucson home after authorities cleared the crime scene and released the property to the family.
Sheriff won’t confirm ransom demand; DNA found at Arizona home
A Ring camera that had been mounted on the front of the home appeared to have been removed, which the sheriff said investigators noticed and are examining.
The home is equipped with several cameras, and detectives are working with technology companies to determine how many cameras were present and whether footage is available. Authorities are also attempting to access data from Guthrie’s pacemaker.
When asked directly whether a ransom demand had been received, Nanos declined to answer specifically, saying only that investigators were receiving “a lot of tips and information.”
The sheriff’s office later acknowledged on social media that it was aware of reports about possible ransom notes and was taking all leads seriously.
Investigators have found signs of forced entry at the Arizona home of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother. That’s according to a person familiar with the investigation who spoke Tuesday to The Associated Press.
The person who spoke to The Associated Press said investigators found specific evidence in the home showing there was a nighttime kidnapping. Several of Guthrie’s personal items, including her cellphone, wallet and car, were still there after she disappeared.

President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday afternoon, said he planned to call Savannah Guthrie “later on” and called the situation “terrible.” “I always got along very good with Savannah,” Trump said.
Reward offered for information
A reward of up to $2,500 has been offered for information in the disappearance of the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie.
Authorities in Arizona believe Nancy Guthrie, 84, was kidnapped, abducted or otherwise taken against her will.
“This one stood out, just because what I was being told about the home she disappeared from, and I just felt like we’re going to do our search and rescue mission,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” on Monday. “We’re going to find her, but I also felt like we need to get our homicide or criminal investigation team involved early on, because I just didn’t like what I was hearing.”
Nancy Guthrie, mother of ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie, disappears: Timeline
Nanos said Monday that Guthrie is in urgent need of her daily medication, noting that 24 hours without it could be fatal.
“This is not dementia-related. She’s as sharp as a tack,” Nanos said at a news conference earlier in the day. “The family wants everyone to know that this isn’t someone who just wandered off.”
Nancy Guthrie ‘didn’t just wander off’: Sheriff
Guthrie was last seen near her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Arizona on Saturday night around 9:45 p.m. local time, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s department is investigating the possibility she was taken overnight, spokesperson Angelica Carrillo said.
Nanos said there were signs at the home suggesting Guthrie did not leave on her own.

“She didn’t just wander off at 84, though she does still suffer some physical ailments that restrict her ability to move and get around,” Nanos said. “The family tells us, you know, if she could walk 50 yards on her own, that would be something.”
Search and rescue efforts underway in Arizona
Search teams used drones and search dogs and were supported by volunteers and Border Patrol. The homicide team was also involved, Nanos said, and he acknowledged their involvement was not standard in such cases. The FBI has also offered to help, Carrillo said.
What we know about the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother
“We know she did not leave that home on her own and that it was against her will,” Nanos said. “We don’t know that she was harmed. We believe that there’s evidence at the scene that suggests we’re gathering some DNA samples to get those to our crime lab to get some rapid results and see what that leads to.”
Border Patrol’s BORSTAR unit, a special operations group with advanced tracking and emergency medical capabilities, has assisted in the search, according to sources.
‘Bring her home’: Savannah Guthrie
Guthrie stands 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. It’s unknown what she was wearing when she went missing.
Savannah Guthrie issued a statement Monday via social media: “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you. He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. A verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us. Bring her home.”
Savannah Guthrie pulls out of NBC Winter Olympics coverage
NBC Sports announced that Savannah Guthrie will not travel to the Olympics, saying she is stepping away to be with her family as the search continues for her missing mother. In a statement, the network said its thoughts are with Guthrie and her family during this “difficult time” and noted that plans for Opening Ceremony coverage will be updated soon.
