Ant McPartlin has spoken out for the first time since welcoming his first child with wife Anne-Marie Corbett, admitting that life is ‘wonderful’ since becoming a dad

The presenter, 48, and his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, 46, welcomed a baby boy in May. Becoming a dad for the first time had made him blissfully happy. In his first interview about fatherhood, he said: “I’m really good, I’m really happy. There are lots of nappies and sleepless nights but it’s absolutely wonderful.”
“I’m loving it. It’s been the best year.” Ant has been coping with parenting by getting tips from his TV sidekick Dec Donnelly, who has two children. The star said: “Dec has been very good, he’s given me some good advice.” But Dec, 48, admitted his advice isn’t always helpful. He joked: “I do share tips and things. They’re very bad. My tips are normally: give the baby to somebody else! That’s it.”
Ant has turned his life around since his battle with an addiction to painkillers. Between 2015 and 2019 he hit rock bottom and was forced to take a break from TV. But he is now back on track and gearing up for another series of I’m A Celebrity.
Ant will jet to Australia next month with Dec to start rehearsals. He said: “We’ve enjoyed having a break this summer. We’ve been busy. We look forward to doing I’m A Celebrity. It’s getting cold now, so it’s time for a trip to Australia and some winter sun. I know a bit about the series. I’ve been chatting to some people and I know some names. They’re really good. I’m really happy.”

Ant and pal Dec scooped up the Best Presenter Award at the NTAs for the 23rd year running on Wednesday night (September 11). They first won the gong back in 2001. The TV duo saw off tough competition from This Morning ’s Alison Hammond, Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors star Claudia Winkleman, The Chase and Gladiators host Bradley Walsh and TV star Stacey Solomon to extend their winning streak.
Collecting the gong during the annual awards ceremony at The O2 in London on Wednesday evening, Dec said: “Thank you – it’s really hard to put into words just how this feels and what it means to us that you take the time to vote for us.” Ant described the gong as a “joy” and joked that one day they will not collect it, but tonight was not the night.
They also thanked their teams and families before reflecting on how their lives have changed over the years, especially since becoming fathers. Dec also revealed that his daughter gave him her lip balm for good luck, thanking her for it as he showed it to the audience
