Landman Season 3: What To Expect When Paramount+’s Biggest Show Returns
Landman is Paramount+’s juggernaut. So what’s next?

James Jordan, Sam Elliot, and Billy Bob Thornton,Ā Landman
LandmanĀ Season 2 broke just about every streaming record Paramount+ had en route to its surprisingly optimistic finale, and now a horde of fans is champing at the bit for more of the adventures of oilman Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton). Fortunately, co-creatorĀ Taylor SheridanĀ is pretty efficient, and so we probably won’t have to wait multiple years for Season 3. Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
IsĀ LandmanĀ renewed for Season 3?
Yes! Paramount+Ā gaveĀ LandmanĀ its order for a third seasonĀ in Dec. 2025, after the first couple episodes of Season 2 earned record viewership for the streamer. There will be moreĀ Landman. Not that where was any doubt.
LandmanĀ Season 3 expected release date
We have no info about when Season 3 will premiere on Paramount+, from official sources or otherwise. But sinceĀ LandmanĀ Season 2 premiered 364 days after Season 1 did, we’re expecting another fall premiere for Season 3. Taylor Sheridan isn’t one to dawdle.
HasĀ LandmanĀ season 3 started production yet?
No, but the early renewal means there’s a very good chance that Sheridan has already started cranking out the scripts for the new season. Season 2 filmed in the spring and summer before premiering in November, so there’s still plenty of time for Season 3 to follow the same pattern. And with the clock ticking on Paramount’s partnership with Sheridan, who’ll be making TV for NBCUniversal under a new deal starting in 2029, you have to think Paramount+ will try to get as muchĀ LandmanĀ out of him as they can before then.
ReturningĀ LandmanĀ cast and crew
There weren’t any major character deaths in Season 2, so we can expect everyone important to come back for Season 3. Keep in mind, however, that Season 2 did completely write off Ainsley Norris’s overly respectful boyfriend with a brief line of dialogue, and so it’s possible something similar will happen with another supporting character or two. But we don’t have any reason to speculate along those lines yet. For now, you should expect everybody who matters to be back.
Likewise, Taylor Sheridan will once again be running the show and writing all the scripts.

LandmanĀ Season 3 plotlines
It’s pretty clear that the main story thread for Season 3 will be focused on the adventures of CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, the hilariously named oil company that Tommy set up for his family and friends in the Season 2 finale. While the future looks bright, they’re on the hook with Gallino (Andy Garcia), a cartel boss who made an extremely pointed threat toward Tommy’s family while he was writing $62 million in checks to get this party started. You can expect that CTT will suffer some mishaps in Season 3 that’ll make Tommy scared that Gallino will follow through on that threat.
But there are also plenty of other ongoing plot threads that are likely to pop up in Season 3. Here are the main ones:
Cooper killed an oil man who was trying to rape Ariana, and there were hints that some shadowy figure in the oil business was pushing to have him charged with a murder for it
Cami’s gas rig in the Gulf of Mexico, a $400 million bet on a 10% chance of finding gas
Ainsley learning to find common ground with her non-binary college roommate
Cooper and Ariana are getting married, and Tommy and Angela are getting re-married

Michelle Randolph,Ā Landman
What willĀ LandmanĀ Season 3 do with Paigyn and Ainsley?
The thread about Ainsley’s roommate is probably the most expendable since Ainsley herself is basically a side character who lives in Fort Worth now ā she’s not really part of the main plot right now. But the story of Ainsley’s relationship with Paigyn, in which the two of them learn to get along despite dramatically different personalities and backgrounds, is a good story thread that’s worth keeping, particularly for a series that’s as popular asĀ LandmanĀ is. While their introductory scene was a bit awkward and seemed to play too much into anti-woke stereotypes, it really was just awkward roommate jitters. It turned out that Paigyn is actually pretty friendly and helpful, and it looks like the two of them are about to become BFFs thanks to their shared love of Lainey Wilson.
CouldĀ LandmanĀ go to Venezuela?
In Jan. 2026 in the real world, the Trump regime abducted the president of VenezuelaĀ in order to take control of the country’s oil reserves. The problem with that plan is that Venezuela isn’t the most stable country at the moment thanks at least in large part to the US’s intervention, and the quality of oil it produces is pretty low ā a combination that means the big oil companiesĀ don’t have much interestĀ in getting involved there, since it would take a lot more effort and money to get that oil than it would be almost anywhere else in the world.
ButĀ LandmanĀ is not about the big oil companies. It’s about smaller companies and private drillers carving out their niches in between those big companies. In the near term,Ā those risk-taking wildcatters are the kinds of folks who are most interestedĀ in getting involved with drilling for oil in Venezuela. And Cami, who’s hellbent on seeing this offshore rig through because she believes the trillions of dollars of potential upside is worth the 90% chance of complete failure, is exactly the sort of wildcatter that this real-world situation is attracting.
While Tommy and CTT Oil are going to continue to be firmly rooted in West Texas, that’s not the case for Cami. It’s not too difficult to imagine a scenario in which Cami’s offshore rig hits the jackpot, emboldening her to let it ride and try some other risky moves ā like investing a couple billion dollars on operations in Venezuela.
That said, a show like this leans into real current events at its own peril, since the new status quo could change at any time and render the whole bit out of date.
Where to watch the first two seasons ofĀ Landman
