Missing High School Football Coach’s Home Searched ‘Multiple Times’ Amid Ongoing Disappearance
The family of missing high school football coach Travis Turner has agreed to home searches with authorities in the investigation into his disappearance, according to their attorney.
“Their homes and properties have been searched multiple times, with their consent,” attorney Adrian Collins said in a statement on behalf of the Turner family to Us Weekly on Wednesday, December 3.
Collins added that the family “continues to cooperate with law enforcement efforts to locate Travis.”
Turner, 46, went missing on November 20, last seen by members of his family walking into the woods near his home while carrying a firearm.

Days after his disappearance, Turner, the head football coach at Union High School in Stone Gap, Virginia, was charged with five counts of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.
Travis has been married to his wife, Leslie Caudill Turner, since 2001 and the couple share three children: sons Bailey, 25, and Grayden, 21, and daughter Brynlee, 11.
“If Travis has the ability and is able to respond to his family’s wishes; your wife and children are in distress,” the family’s statement said. “Leslie pleads for you to come home and face the allegations by defending yourself in a court of law. Don’t leave your family to fight this battle without you. They love and miss you. They want you to know they are your support.”
Leslie called authorities to report that Travis was missing on November 21, and her fears were “heightened” when she realized her husband had left home without his wallet, keys, contacts, glasses and daily medications.
“Criminal charges were not obtained against Travis until days after he failed to return home,” the statement explained. “He was not a fugitive nor wanted by law enforcement at the time he went missing. His wife was not helping him escape, she was asking for help to find him.”
The United States Marshals Service joined the search for Travis on Monday, December 1, linking up with Virginia State Police to execute their efforts.
A $5,000 reward for information about Travis’ location was also issued by the Marshals on Monday.
“The search remains active and ongoing with the assistance of the US Marshals Service and FBI,” a spokesperson for the Virginia State Police told Us on December 3. “We are still asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information that may lead to Turner’s whereabouts.”
Authorities have utilized drones, K-9 units and a helicopter in their search for Travis, which has largely focused on the dense wooded area near his home.
Amid his disappearance, the undefeated Union High football team has made a run to the state semifinals.
Union will play Glenvar High School in the Virginia High School League Class 2 semifinals on Saturday, December 6.
After Union’s victory over rival Ridgeview High School on Saturday, November 29, Travis’ oldest son Bailey, a member of the Union High coaching staff, called the win “bittersweet,” according to the Daily Mail.
Bailey also said he “appreciated the support” from the community as his father remained missing.

Shamed ex-high school coach Turner, 46, vanished into the Appalachian wilderness after fleeing his Virginia home on November 20.
And, there has been no trace of him since.
Virginia State Police, The US Marshals, and FBI are all involved in the search effort, as reported by the CBS affiliate WJHL-TV.
Cops have asked the public for help.
Turner is wanted on five child pornography charges and is also accused of using a computer to solicit a minor.
As part of the police investigation, properties linked to Turner were searched several times.
However, cops have not released details about what, if anything, was found inside.
Drones have been deployed and K9s have combed the wilderness, but the search efforts, so far, have proved futile.
It has sparked theories on whether Turner may be using an accomplice to keep under the radar, or if he’s fled Virginia.
Turner wasn’t formally reported missing until November 21, meaning he had a 24-hour window.
The coach’s wife Leslie was unable to report him missing straightaway.
But, she became concerned when he didn’t return home on November 20.
Turner was armed with a rifle when he vanished, and left behind items such as car, daily medication, and glasses.
“It is not like Travis to disappear or stay away from home,” his family said in a statement issued by their lawyer, Adrian Collins.
Travis Turner timeline
Before November 20:
Travis Turner was placed on paid administrative leave from his position as a high school football coach at Union High School.
Wise County Public Schools admitted he remained on leave until at least November 24.
Thursday, November 20:
Virginia State Police authorities went to Turner’s home in Appalachia, Virginia, to question him as part of an investigation into child sex crimes.
Turner suddenly vanished from his property.
He was reportedly last seen walking into a wooded, mountainous area, which he is very familiar with, with a firearm.
November 21-24:
Turner was initially declared missing.
An urgent search was launched, deploying search-and-rescue teams, drones, and K9 units in the Appalachian hinterlands.
Tuesday, November 25:
Virginia state troopers announced that they had obtained 10 warrants for Turner’s arrest, including five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.
Search continues:
Crews are continually searching for any sign of the coach.
Turner’s family have called for him to face the allegations in court in a message issued through their lawyer.
Union High School Bears, the team Turner coached, lost their undefeated streak on December 6.
On December 8, Wise County School District officials held their first board meeting since Turner’s disappearance. Public comment was banned from the meeting.
Turner’s family have urged him to face the allegations.
Before deleting her Facebook account, Leslie strongly defended her husband.
Temperatures have plunged since Turner’s disappearance.
On November 29, temperatures plunged to a bonechilling 19F and wintry weather is expected this week.
Ken Lang, a retired law enforcement veteran, spoke of the challenges investigators face if Turner is dead.
He told The Mail animals could start “picking apart” at his body, which would force investigators to change course.
“Your search then starts to focus on clothing and remnants and things that you would have expected him to be in at the time,” he said.
“It just becomes harder. It almost becomes like looking for a needle in the haystack, particularly in that region of the Appalachian Mountains.”
Turner vanished when the Union High School Bears football team was undefeated.
Union High is part of the Wise County School district and a board meeting was held on Monday.
It was the first meeting since Turner vanished.
But, members of the public were unable to speak at the meeting, as reported by the NBC affiliate WCYB-TV.
“We just decided that tonight we just wouldn’t have open expression,” Larry Greear, the board’s chair, said.
US Marshals issued a $5,000 reward that leads to Turner’s capture.
