He has been single since his split to ex-wife Josephine in 2020.
The pair were together for 34 years before they amicably decided to split.
McDonald was also previously married to a woman called Beryl, who he divorced in 1985.

Sir Trevor was married to his wife Josephine from 1986 to 2020.
They started dating after meeting at ITN.
However, it was announced in September 2020 that the marriage has sadly come to an end.
A source said: “It is sad but Trevor and Jo realised they weren’t making one another happy any more, and that it was time to move on with their lives.
“Trevor is still very much in demand work-wise, and wanted a fresh start.
“He feels young and still has a twinkle in his eye.
“He and Josephine have a long history so obviously they are still speaking, and everything is amicable.
“Trevor has moved into his own apartment and friends are joking it is his bachelor pad.”
McDonald has three children, Joanne and Tim from his married to Beryl, and Jack with his married to Jo.
The Mail on Sunday reported in February 2019, that Trevor and Jo had put their seven-bedroom Richmond mansion up for sale which they reportedly bought in 2001 for £2.3million.
