Grammy-winning artist Ciara is setting the record straight on where things stand with Rihanna. During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” on June 20, the singer addressed her infamous 2011 Twitter feud with the Fenty mogul, telling viewers that the drama is long behind them.
“The way I feel is, CiCi got a lot of love for RiRi,” Ciara said when asked directly about the rumored tension. She explained that the public back-and-forth stemmed from a brief misunderstanding that didn’t last long, and noted that maturity and motherhood helped the two women move forward. “Oh my gosh, we were babies. Now we’re mamas doing our thing. It’s all love,” she said.
The feud began over a “Fashion Police” segment where Ciara commented that Rihanna wasn’t the friendliest when they crossed paths at an event. Rihanna responded on Twitter, writing, “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme.” Ciara replied, “Trust me Rihanna u don’t want to see me on or off the stage,” to which Rihanna responded, “U gangsta huh? Haaa. Good luck bookin that stage u speak of.”
The viral tweets made headlines at the time, but Ciara emphasized that things have changed, especially now that both artists are mothers. She shared that Rihanna had previously sent her a supportive direct message. “She said she was proud of me. I’m proud of her too.”
Rihanna and Ciara Reunite at the 2025 Met Gala
Any lingering doubts about their friendship were put to rest when Rihanna and Ciara shared a warm moment at the 2025 Met Gala in New York City. The two stars were seen chatting, smiling, and even embracing as Ciara placed her hand on Rihanna’s baby bump. The reunion marked their first public interaction since their viral Twitter exchange 14 years ago.
Reportedly, during a later appearance on “Sherri”, Ciara opened up about that night, saying they connected over motherhood and shared memories. She revealed that Rihanna had sent her a sweet message before the event, adding, “She is rocking it in such a great way.”
Ciara has four children, while Rihanna is expecting her third with A$AP Rocky. At the Met Gala, the two stars reportedly joked about their growing families—using Spanish numbers “quatro” and “tres”—and embraced how far they’ve both come personally and professionally.

In addition to their lighthearted Met Gala moment, Ciara said that motherhood has been a grounding experience for both of them, according to People. She spoke about Rihanna saying, “She is rocking it in such a great way,” The singer then added, “What you get to see through our journeys as moms, just every woman that’s doing it, that you really can do it. You can live your life. You can have beautiful, precious babies and still pursue your dreams, be successful.”
Though their feud once captured headlines, Ciara made it clear during her “WWHL” appearance that she holds no resentment. She emphasized the importance of growth and support among women navigating fame and motherhood.
