“Somebody Save Me” just crossed 100 million streams on Spotify, becoming the fourth track from “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” to hit the mark. Fans have connected deeply with its raw emotion, and even Hailie says she cannot listen without tearing up.
Fans have been hooked on the track since day one, and it is easy to see why. With its haunting melody and deeply personal lyrics about addiction and regret, it is one of those songs that sticks with you.
It was a dream come true for Jelly Roll to have his song “Save Me” sampled by Eminem. And for fans, it has been a track they cannot stop playing. But not everyone finds it easy to listen. Hailie admitted on her podcast that both “Somebody Save Me” and “Temporary” make her cry every time she hears them:
Between that and “Temporary”… I can’t. I audibly sobbed, I think, for both songs. But I will say, watching the video back and listening to the songs, I feel like my parents did such a good job. Growing up, I didn’t realise how bad things were. But now, as an adult, in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about. And I think that’s why I get so emotional.
As powerful as “Somebody Save Me” is, it is just one of many songs in Eminem’s catalogue that fans keep coming back to. It is his 106th song to earn the milestone of 100 million streams on the platform. There is beauty and strength in vulnerability – and Em’s fans have learned it long ago.
