EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT THIS NEW NETFLIX SHOW — AND THE SETTING IS HALF THE OBSESSION.
It unfolds in one of those small towns that instantly feels familiar: quiet streets, hidden histories, and secrets tucked behind every friendly smile. Seeing this place come to life on screen hits pure comfort… until the story starts peeling back what’s really going on.
Viewers say the town itself feels like a character — and once you step into it, you won’t want to leave. 👀
The New Netflix Show Everyone Is Talking About Takes Place In One Of Our Favorite Small Towns
Seeing it on screen will never get old.
His & Hers, the moody thriller based on the 2020 Alice Feeney novel of the same name, is currently the most popular Netflix show in the world. In this twisty limited series, Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson play estranged spouses—one a detective and the other a reporter—racing to solve a murder they’re both connected to. It’s a fictional murder that rocks a real-life small town. A town we happen to be very familiar with.
The six-episode show is set primarily in the historic north Georgia town of Dahlonega. Located an hour outside of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s a sleepy community known for its charming downtown and a monthlong Hallmark-worthy holiday extravaganza. In fact, at least three Hallmark Christmas movies have been filmed there since 2016.

A psychological thriller is a big departure from the feel-good films people have come to associate with Dahlonega, which, if we’re being honest, only adds to the intrigue in His & Hers.
Filming took place in and around Atlanta as well as on location in Dahlonega. Viewers familiar with the Lumpkin County town will recognize the Dahlonega Gold Museum, Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, Montaluce Estates and Vineyards, Dahlonega Campus of the University of North Georgia, and more local landmarks in some of the scenes.

Bernthal, who has filmed a number of projects in Georgia, including The Walking Dead, told Netflix that the Peach State is his “favorite place” to film. “There’s a palpable sense of wonder and fun here, which reminds me why I love this work so much and feel so grateful to be doing it,” he explained.

Thompson, who also served as a producer for His & Hers, expressed a similar sentiment.
“Georgia is an excellent place for filming, often called the Hollywood of the South, fostering a lively energy among productions,” she told Netflix. “There is also a genuine feel when shooting on location in Atlanta and Dahlonega, which allows us to engage with the local community, like newscasters and police, to add authenticity to the show.”
His & Hers is streaming now on Netflix.
