Chrissy Metz isn’t ruling out a possible season 2 of The Hunting Wives.
When asked whether the show is “open” to a return, Metz, 44, replied on the Monday, August 25, episode of the “Call It What It Is” podcast, “I think so.”
The Hunting Wives, based on May Cobb’s book of the same name, centered around Sophie (Brittany Snow) and her move to an East Texas town where she meets socialite Margo (Malin Åkerman) and her group of wealthy female friends. Metz stars as the mother of high school student Abby (Madison Wolfe), who is found dead in a mysterious murder.
While there has been no official word on season 2, creator Rebecca Cutter has teased ideas for how to continue the story. In an interview with Variety, Cutter shared that she envisioned there would be “a little bit of a time jump — not a year, but a time.”
Cutter also noted “it would be smart” to have a new murder mystery in a potential season 2. “I don’t know whodunit yet or who got done!” she quipped.
Cobb, for her part, is also on board with sharing more of The Hunting Wives’ story. “I feel like there is so much more story to be told,” Cobb told CBS 19 in July. “It ends on a cliffhanger, and also, the cast and crew were so wonderful. We all just want to get back together and work together again.”
Snow, meanwhile, wants to delve more into Sophie — who ended the season killing someone. (After being threatened by Margo’s brother, Kyle, Sophie hits him with her car and throws his body off a cliff.)
“I think that that’s something that she probably hasn’t even wrestled with within herself, as far as why she’s comfortable keeping herself in that box and also keeping secrets from herself. That’s a dark night of the soul situation that we would only be seeing in season 2,” Snow teased to Collider in July. “I don’t know how she’s going to get there. Therapy? Maybe a really good therapist and a lot of time.”
The Hunting Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
