I feel like I have two new sisters and their names are Leanne and Carol. Thank you, Leanne!
It’s only been a day since Leanne Morgan and Kristen Johnston‘s new sitcom — co-created by legendary comedy producer Chuck Lorre — made its debut on Netflix and I already need a new block of episodes. Blame Netflix for sending me eight episodes pre-release and leaving me with only eight to watch on its debut day.
Whether you’re like me and watched it in two sittings or binged all 16 episodes in one day (be proud, that’s an accomplishment!), odds are that you are now in desperate need of more from Leanne and Carol (Johnston), as well as their kooky but lovable family members.
Here’s the shake: no matter how much you love these characters or the storylines, it’s going to be a second until we see them again in a second season. But just how long until we catch back up with this dysfunctional family? And is there a chance that we never return to Leanne’s story?
Keep reading to find out everything we know about Leanne Season 2, including if the show has been renewed and when it could come out.

Has Leanne Been Renewed For a Second Season?
As of August 1, a.k.a. the day after Leanne Season 1 dropped on Netflix, the series has not been renewed for Season 2. No need to fret just yet, it often takes weeks or months for Netflix to announce a renewal, so just try to hold your breath until then.
When Could Leanne Season 2 Release on Netflix?
The good news here is that, given Lorre’s storied history in broadcast television and the sitcom nature of this series, it would probably only take about a year for Leanne Season 2 to come out. Producers like Lorre are used to having a rapid turnaround thanks to cutting their teeth in rooms where a 22-episode season each year is the standard, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Leanne Season 2 by July 2026.
Who Is In The Leanne Cast Alongside Leanne Morgan?
Next to the title character is a murderer’s row of talented actors and comedians, including Kristen Johnston, Ryan Stiles, Tim Daly, Blake Clark, Celia Weston, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, Annie Gonzalez, and Jayma Mays.
What Is Leanne About?
“When her husband leaves her for another woman, a resilient Southern mom starts over with the support of her loving, but unfiltered family,” a Netflix description reads.
Is Leanne Based on a True Story?
No, Leanne is not based on a true story! While the show is named after its main actor, it is only loosely based on Leanne as a character. In real life, Morgan is happily married to her husband, Chuck, and has been for 33 years. She does also have a younger sister, Beth, but they do not live together in a classic sitcom scenario. Rats!
