Following his divorce from Fergie in November 2019, Josh Duhamel married his wife Audra Mari

Before he found love with his wife Audra Mari, Josh Duhamel had a few long-term relationships.

The Ramson Canyon star’s first public romance was with model Kristy Pierce, whom he split from in 2004, just weeks before their wedding. A few months later, he started dating Fergie (née Stacy Ann Ferguson) and they wed in 2009. The pair welcomed their son Axl Jack in August 2013, and they split four years later.

Fast forward to 2018, Duhamel started seeing Eiza González before they soon called it quits. The following year, the actor met his now-wife, Mari, whom he married in September 2022. The couple share a son Shepherd Lawrence, who was born in January 2024.

During a February 2022 conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Duhamel was asked when he knew that Mari was “the one,” to which he replied, “Oh, I knew that pretty early on.”

“She’s an awesome girl, [and] she’s perfect for me,” the When in Rome actor said. “We’re both from North Dakota and I think there’s a commonality that we have … She’s great.”

Kristy Pierce

Duhamel’s first public relationship was with Pierce, whom he met during a modeling job for Bacardi Rum in November 1998, as he shared in a 2003 interview.

During the conversation, the Safe Haven star reflected on what drew him to Pierce. “She obviously has something that sets her apart, and sets a little fire inside me,” he explained.

“I’m not sure what exactly, but a lot of it is her sense of humor, her heart, her thoughtfulness for people, and stuff like that, which is essential if a relationship is to last,” the actor added.

The pair dated for seven years and got engaged, though they called it quits two weeks before their wedding.

Fergie

Duhamel and Fergie met in 2004 after her band, the Black Eyed Peas, made a cameo on the television series Las Vegas, in which the actor was starring at the time.

Duhamel, who previously revealed in an InStyle interview that he once had a “naughty dream” about the singer, made an effort to talk to his crush — though he almost blew it.

“After they finished rehearsing, I was walking out, and all of a sudden, she was walking toward me,” he told Best Life in 2007. “I was like, ‘Oh boy.’ She stopped. And this is so sad, but I said, in this desperate voice, ‘You’re hot!’ The crush of a lifetime, and that was my line!”

The pair began dating soon after, and were engaged by December 2007. Duhamel and Fergie married in January 2009, and later welcomed their son, Axl, in August 2013.

Though they split in September 2017 and divorced in November 2019, the actor and singer remain dedicated co-parents.

During a December 2018 episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Duhamel revealed that despite going their separate ways, he is still supportive of Fergie.

“Fergie and I had a great relationship,” he said. “I love that girl and I always will. Unfortunately, we didn’t work. But I will always have her back and she is the mother of my baby.”

Duhamel and González were first romantically linked after being spotted on a dinner date in June 2018, though a source told PEOPLE that they had been “quietly dating for months.”

They kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight, but were seen vacationing in Mexico over the July Fourth holiday.

That same month, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair had split, saying, “Their work schedules were tough on the relationship.”

Audra Mari

Duhamel was first linked to his wife Mari in October 2019, when they were photographed kissing at an airport in Toronto.

The Love, Simon star shared more details about how they met during a September 2023 appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, explaining that he “slid into her DMs” after she had “won some pageants and stuff” in North Dakota.

Duhamel admitted that he “didn’t think” any romance would happen given their age gap, but that changed when the pair met in person. (Duhamel is 21 years older than Mari.)

“I invited her over to a BBQ one weekend and she came and I was like, ‘Wow, you’re beautiful,’ ” the actor recalled.

In January 2022, Duhamel proposed to Mari on her 28th birthday. The Life As We Know It alum shared the news on Instagram, revealing that he popped the question via a “message in a bottle” that “washed ashore” on the beach.

The handwritten note inside the bottle read, “Audra Diane Mari Will You Marry Me?”

“My heart is so happy..,” Mari captioned an Instagram post of her own. “I love you @joshduhamel.”

The couple tied the knot on Sept. 10, 2022, in Fargo, N.D., and welcomed their first child, son Shepherd, on Jan. 11, 2024.
