Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins has opened up about her feelings towards her former co-host Piers Morgan, who made his return to the ITV show earlier this month

Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins has opened up about her true feelings towards Piers Morgan.
This revealing moment came after Morgan returned to the GMB studios for the first time since his dramatic departure following controversial comments about the Duchess of Sussex. The outspoken 59-year-old joined former co-host Susanna Reid and Ed Balls to discuss Donald Trump.
Morgan quit the ITV morning show in 2021 after walking out following a confrontation with co-star Alex Beresford. The weather presenter criticised Piers after he said he didn’t believe claims made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
However, on March 3, Morgan made a comeback, cheekily beginning his segment by exclaiming: “Hang on, are we just going to ignore the fact I haven’t been here for 1,453 days?”
He went on to offer former colleague Reid a hug, which she declined, before being offered one by Balls. The former MP said: “We don’t mind hugging.”

Now, Hawkins, 49, who has been part of the GMB team since its inception in 2014, has shed light on her sentiments regarding her past colleague. She opened up about the controversial star in an interview with Woman magazine., reports the Manchester Evening News.
She said: “I wasn’t in that day so I didn’t get to see him in person but I was watching from home and he certainly livened things up, as usual. I’m lucky that Piers is a friend so I get to see him on a regular basis anyway.”
Morgan’s GMB return saw him discussing his phone call with US President Trump. He says they discussed topics such as Ukraine the week before Trump famously clashed with Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House.

He described Trump as being in an “upbeat mood” throughout their chat but pointed out that they’ve had their fair share of “screaming matches” only to end up “laughing an hour later”. Morgan explained: “So I always think with him, focus on what he does, not what he says, or the general drama and chaos.”
Wrapping up the GMB segment, Morgan playfully suggested Balls, who took over in 2022, should “ditch the tie”. Balls quipped in response: “Piers, as you know, I always do what the editor wants.”
Retorting cheekily, Morgan said: “Or what Susanna tells you to do, bad for her brand if you take the tie off.”
Reid clarified it wasn’t her influence and wittily hinted that Morgan might consider exiting once more. While Morgan’s return got fans talking, Hawkins says she prefers interviews with “ordinary people” as opposed to big names.
She related: “We are really lucky that we have such a broad breadth of guests, from politicians and government ministers to celebrities like pop and film stars. But actually, for me, the guests that usually stand out the most are ordinary people that we speak to who do extraordinary things.”
