Kayleigh McEnany and her husband, former New York Mets pitcher Sean Gilmartin, are expecting their third child

Kayleigh McEnany married her husband, Sean Gilmartin, in November 2017.

The former White House press secretary met Gilmartin, a former pitcher for the New York Mets, when she was still in law school. Although McEnany was focused on her studies, Gilmartin caught her attention while scrolling on social media in 2015, she recalled in her book, For Times Such As This: My Faith Journey through the White House and Beyond.

After reaching out to him on X, McEnany and Gilmartin began dating and they married two years later. The couple went on to welcome their daughter Blake in 2019 and son Nash in 2022. More recently, McEnany announced on Fox News’ Outnumbered that they are expecting a third child, due in June 2025.

While their careers kept them apart in the early years of their relationship — including McEnany’s job at the White House during President Donald Trump’s first presidential term and Gilmartin’s longtime baseball career that ended in 2020 — they found ways to stay connected.

So who is Kayleigh McEnany’s husband? Here’s everything to know about Sean Gilmartin and his relationship with the Fox News personality.

Gilmartin grew up in Southern California

Gilmartin was born in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and raised in the nearby city of Moorpark, where he was surrounded by baseball.

His grandfather, dad, brother and two uncles were all Minor League Baseball players, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Gilmart began playing the sport at age 6 and eventually became a prominent student-athlete as a left-handed pitcher.

He was a professional baseball player

After graduating from Crespi Carmelite High School, Gilmartin took part in the 2008 MLB Amateur Draft and was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 31st round, but ultimately decided to attend college instead, per the Thousand Oaks Acorn.

He enrolled at Florida State University and joined the Seminoles baseball team. There, Gilmartin stepped onto the mound as a pitcher and was part of the team when they won the College World Series in 2010.

During the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft, Gilmartin was drafted by the Atlanta Braves, 28th overall. He played for several Minor League Baseball teams before being traded to the Minnesota Twins and then the New York Mets, where he earned a spot as a relief pitcher.

Gilmartin officially made his MLB debut in the spring of 2014 and was with the Mets when they went to the World Series in 2015.

He later played Minor League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Baltimore Orioles and the Long Island Ducks. He also briefly joined the Tampa Bay Rays before retiring from the sport in 2020.

He met McEnany through social media in 2015

In 2015, McEnany came across Gilmartin’s profile on X.

At the time, she was in the middle of her second year at Harvard Law School but was living in New York City for a summer job at a law firm. Meanwhile, Gilmartin was in the midst of his MLB career, playing for the Mets.

In her book For Times Such As This, McEnany recalled seeing Gilmartin’s social media account and deciding to message him.

The pair struck up a conversation and eventually decided to meet in person for dinner at a local restaurant called Southern Hospitality. They spent the rest of that summer together as their relationship grew serious.

They wed in 2017 and had a long-distance relationship for several years

Following their first summer together, McEnany returned to Harvard while Gilmartin continued to play with the Mets, she recounted in her book. The couple dated long distance as they both worked to progress their careers.

The pair became long-distance again after they married in November 2017, while McEnany worked in the White House and Gilmartin played for various baseball teams around the country.

“During the first few years of our marriage, our long distance and traveling continued. Sean joined a number of baseball teams in different states, and I moved to work in politics in DC, even though our home was in Florida,” she wrote.

They share two kids and have one on the way

Since getting married, McEnany and Gilmartin have welcomed two children.

Their daughter Blake was born in November 2019, while McEnany worked as a national press secretary during Trump’s first presidential administration.

A few years later, the couple welcomed their son Nash in November 2022.

In early 2025, McEnany and Gilmartin announced they were expecting their third child, due in June.
