Blow for Eamonn Holmes, 65, as romance with girlfriend, 43, ‘comes under strain’
The veteran TV anchor has also split with his management firm
Eamonn Holmes is facing a double blow as he navigates relationship troubles while also parting ways with his management firm.
The 65-year-old TV presenter is dating Katie Alexander, 43, but their romance is said to have come under strain in recent months, despite Eamonn reportedly showering his younger partner with gifts.
A source close to the couple told MailOnline that the pair have been spending increasing time apart.
The insider said: “He’s grumpier than ever and his health problems really aren’t helping, but instead of moving closer to Katie and settling, he’s spending more time with his family in Belfast, often without her.”
Eamonn and Katie had known each other since at least 2015 and followed one another on social media platform X for years. They got together last year, months after Eamonn’s well-publicised split from wife Ruth Langsford.
The TV host, who began his career in 1979 at Ulster Television (UTV) before joining the BBC in 1986, has also split from his management firm InterTalent Rights Group, as well as his manager Jonathan Shalit after three years of working together.
To make matters worse, Eamonn has also lost another line of work after being replaced by Virgin radio host Ryan Tubridy as presenter of The Irish Post Awards in London, a role he held since 2013.
Eamonn had previously spent many years with firm YMU, which continues to represent his ex-wife Ruth Langsford.
His relations with YMU are alleged to have worsened in 2021, with claims that fellow ex-This Morning host Phillip Schofield was receiving preferential treatment.
Eamonn was said to have been angry that he and wife Ruth were being dismissed from their Friday slot after 14 years on the show, to be replaced with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
The fallout happened before Schofield’s fall from grace, when details about his relationship with a young runner on the show became public.
This year has seen numerous reports about Eamonn’s health, after the GB News presenter shared two photos on Instagram showing himself recovering from treatment — both featuring a large patch over his right eye.
A source told the Daily Mail the operation was “not serious,” though it has kept him resting longer than expected.
“It’s one thing after another with setbacks… his back as well, and he’s got to have more surgery on his back, so he’s out of action,” they added.
Eamonn has been candid about his ongoing health struggles over the years.
The veteran broadcaster has undergone multiple surgeries since 2016, including double hip replacements and treatment for shingles.
In 2022, he underwent back surgery following three slipped discs, which left him reliant on a walking frame and, at times, a wheelchair.
In recent months, he has spoken about his frustration with immobility, admitting earlier this year: “Even when the sun shines there’s pain,’ he wrote. ‘Sometimes I feel I’ll never beat this disc immobility, but I’m determined to have a life…’
