Sandra Bullock is eager to lend a helping hand in the wedding of her close friend Keanu Reeves to longtime girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, sources exclusively tell Closer.

“Sandra is so happy that he’s found love with Alexandra,” says a source. “She says she wants to help plan their wedding. Keanu jokes that Sandra should officiate, just marry them in her backyard.”

Sandra, 60, and Keanu, 60, developed a close connection while filming the 1994 movie Speed, and their bond has remained strong over the years. Meanwhile, Keanu’s relationship with Alexandra, 51, began as a friendship, and they officially became a couple in 2019 after collaborating professionally for nearly ten years. Sources exclusively confirmed to In Touch in April that Alexandra “proposed” to the Matrix actor after more than five years of dating.

“Alexandra and Keanu talk about having a low-key event, just a few friends and family,” adds the source. “That’s simply their style.”

Alexandra and Keanu have largely kept their romance out of the spotlight, since their first meeting at a dinner party in 2009. The pair later collaborated on Keanu’s 2011 book, Ode to Happiness, where Alexandra provided the illustrations to his text.

“The book was made as a surprise, by me, for Keanu, as a private gift,” Alexandra told British Vogue in 2020. “All our friends sitting in the room got the giggles when I gave it to him — they said, ‘Please publish it!’ So that’s how we got into publishing.”

The pair published a second book, Shadows, in 2016 before cofounding the publishing house X Artists’ Books a year later. Keanu and Alexandra confirmed that their relationship had evolved into a romance when they made it official at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in 2019, where they walked the red carpet holding hands.

Alexandra quickly won over her future mother-in-law, Patricia, as sources exclusively told Closer in February 2020 that the matriarch loved her son’s girlfriend’s “caring nature.” “And the fact that she’s with Keanu for who he is rather than his fame and money,” the insider added.

While it was the visual artist who popped the big question, a separate source revealed to Life & Style in September 2022 that Keanu was prepared to get down on one knee.

“It wouldn’t be like Keanu and Alexandra to book a fancy venue and have a big party,” a source told In Touch on April 12. “They want a quiet, simple ceremony with their closest friends and family, and why not do it in their own backyard? It’s the perfect place.”

Their guest list includes a list of Keanu’s famous friends, including the Ms. Congenitality actress and Alex Winter. “Keanu is very close to Sandra, and he and Alex are best buds,” the insider continued.
