Princess Kate struggled to hide secret pregnancy in unearthed video
The Princess of Wales announced her pregnancy with Prince Louis just days after the video
Princess Kate, beloved by the British public and media alike, is always being watched by eagle-eyed royal followers ā however, we don’t always catch everything.
In an unearthed video from the end of August 2017, the Princess of Wales gave a major hint that she was pregnant, but royal watchers worldwide completely missed it.

Princess Kate was on an outing with her husband and brother-in-law
Princess Kate stepped out for an outing to The White Garden inĀ Kensington Palace, alongside her husband,Ā Prince William, and her brother-in-law,Ā Prince Harry.
However, looking back at some of the footage from the day, it’s clear now that the doting mother was struggling to hide her excitement, as she can be seen touching her growing baby bump throughout!

Princess Kate’s pregnancy struggles
The Princess of Wales, mother-of-three, has been incredibly open aboutĀ her struggles with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness that causes severe vomiting, in all of her pregnancies.
Speaking onĀ Giovanna Fletcher’sĀ Happy Mum, Happy BabyĀ podcast back in February 2020, she revealed more about her experience with the condition.

“[It was utterly rotten],” she said. “I was really sick. I wasn’t eating the things I should be eating and yet the body was still able to take all the goodness from my body and to grow new life, which I think is fascinating.”

1. Queen Elizabeth II’s first pregnancyĀ
The late Queen’s pregnancies were never formally announced. Instead, Buckingham Palace released a statement alluding to then Princess Elizabeth’s first pregnancy with Charles, which read: “Her Royal Highness the Princess Elizabeth will undertake no public engagements after the end of June.” Charles was born on 14 November 1948, a year into his parents’ marriage.
2. Princess Diana’s first pregnancyĀ
In November 1981, Princess Diana announced she was expecting her first child with Charles, who was then Prince of Wales. The palace shared a much more personal statement, saying the couple were “delighted by the news,” just a few months after their wedding. Prince William, a future King, arrived on 21 June 1982.
3. Sarah, Duchess of York pregnancies
The line of succession grew as Sarah, Duchess of York and her then-husband, Prince Andrew, announced in January 1988 they were “very pleased” to be expecting their first baby. Their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, was born on 8 August 1988, and second daughter, Princess Eugenie, arrived on 23 March 1990.
4. The Princess of Wales’s first pregnancy
Kensington Palace were forced to announce Princess Kate’s pregnancy earlier than planned, after the then Duchess of Cambridge was hospitalised with hyperemesis gravidarum (a severe form of pregnancy sickness). She was discharged from King Edward VII after a three-day stay.
5. The Duchess of Sussex’s first pregnancyĀ
In October 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were expecting their first child after arriving in Sydney, Australia for their first overseas royal tour since their marriage a few months prior.
Princess Kate ‘really quite liked labour’ in comparison
The mother ofĀ Prince George,Ā Prince CharlotteĀ andĀ Prince LouisĀ also explained that her sickness began to have an impact on her husband too.
She said: “William didn’t feel he could do much to help and it’s hard to see someone suffering without actually being able to do anything about it.”

Princess Kate opened up about struggling during her pregnancies
In a more surprising revelation, Princess Kate told Giovanna that, due to the difficulty she had during her pregnancies, she actually preferred being in labour.
“Because it had been so bad during pregnancy, I actually really quite liked labour,” the 43-year-old revealed. “Because actually it was an event that I knew there was going to be an ending to!”
She concluded: “But I know some people have really difficult times, so it’s not for everybody. No pregnancy is the same, no birth is the same!”
