The drama doesn’t stop on Sullivan’s Crossing.
Adapted from Robyn Carr’s bestselling books of the same name, the series chronicles the life of Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan), a Boston neurosurgeon whose once-thriving career is derailed by legal troubles. Seeking a fresh start, she returns to her Nova Scotia hometown to reconnect with her estranged father, Harry “Sully” Sullivan (Scott Patterson).
While adjusting to small-town life, she falls into a slow-burn romance with Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray), the handyman at her dad’s campground. Maggie and Cal’s relationship was tested multiple times throughout the first two seasons, and season 3 was no exception.
“There’s never a dull moment at Sullivan’s Crossing,” showrunner and executive producer Roma Roth told Collider in July 2025. “A romance drama series needs to have push and pull between your characters. We’re going to have a pretty big shoe drop at the end of the season that we’ll get to see play out in Season 4.”
Read on to unpack all the drama in the Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 finale and what it means for Maggie and Cal’s future.

How did Sullivan’s Crossing season 3 end?

After losing his diner at the end of season 2, Rob Shandon (Reid Price) celebrated the grand opening of his rebuilt restaurant in the season 3 finale. The whole town came to celebrate — including one of Maggie’s exes.
As Maggie and Cal leave the party, they’re approached by Liam Davies (Marcus Rosner), whom she had previously described as a “summer fling.” When she asks him what he’s doing there, he replies, “Is that any way to greet your husband?”
Though Cal asks Maggie what Liam is talking about, she’s seemingly too stunned to respond. The episode ends on her frozen expression, setting up the fallout for season 4.
Do Maggie and Cal stay together after Liam appears?

The season 3 finale of Sullivan’s Crossing appeared to finally settle the lingering question of whether Maggie would choose her medical career or her life in Timberlake. In the closing moments, she tells Cal she has found a way to have both by opening her own practice in town.
But that happy ending does not last long. Liam’s arrival and the shocking reveal of Maggie’s secret marriage turn her picture-perfect future upside down.
The twist leaves plenty of questions heading into season 4, including why Maggie never told Cal about her marriage and who else in Timberlake — including her father — might already know.

After gradually losing her eyesight throughout season 3, Edna Cranebear (Andrea Menard) learned in the final episodes that a benign brain tumor was to blame. Leaving it in place meant she would remain blind and could face further health issues. But removing it came with equally high, life-or-death stakes.
Edna ultimately opted for the operation, on one condition: Maggie had to perform it.
The neurosurgeon agreed, and after a tense, touch-and-go procedure, the surgery was a success. In the final episode, fans saw Edna fully recover and enjoy her life with her husband, Frank Cranebear (Tom Jackson).
Where do Sully and Helen stand?

Season 3 introduced Sully’s first love interest, a writer named Helen Culver (Kate Vernon), who stayed in one of his cabins. In the last episode, he announced that he would join Helen on an extended trip to Ireland, which means the operations of the Crossing will fall to Maggie and Cal.
Though this move demonstrates massive growth for the character, it’s unclear what it will mean for his presence in season 4.
Will there be a season 4 for Sullivan’s Crossing?

Yes, Sullivan’s Crossing was renewed for a fourth season. Canada’s CTV announced the news in June 2025, and Carr confirmed it shortly after on Instagram.
A premiere date for season 4 has yet to be announced. But like previous seasons, new episodes of Sullivan’s Crossing will likely air on CTV and The CW first before being added to Netflix, where all three seasons are available to stream.
