SULLIVAN’S CROSSING SHOCKER — The Season 3 finale twist has fans stunned, but many believe it could spell big trouble for Season 4
One risky choice may change Maggie and Cal’s story forever…

From the first time Maggie and Cal met, there was a spark. Maggie is in a vulnerable place in her life, and Cal seems to be the only reliable thing in her life. He helps her juggle her father as well as his business, and, at the same time, she’s there for him. Their storybook romance becomes official when they take the leap and commit to one another. However, unfortunately for them both, an ex-flame of Maggie’s arrives at the end of Season 3, setting a potential love triangle in motion at the Crossing.
Maggie’s Potential Love Triangle in ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ Could Ruin the Show’s Charm

Let me be clear, the Maggie/Liam/Cal love triangle wouldn’t be her first. In Seasons 1 and 2, Maggie’s longtime boyfriend, Andrew (Allan Hawco), was devoted to her. Even proposing to her in the driveway of the home he bought for them — something Maggie wasn’t exactly thrilled about. Furthermore, when he found out she was pregnant with his child, he was elated, ready to take on the father-figure role. She later miscarried, and who was there to help her through that? None other than Cal Jones. With that being said, towards its end, she never seemed to be on the same level as Andrew when it came to their relationship. Maggie’s decision to lean on Cal isn’t as bad as it seems considering the state of her relationship with Andrew.
Individually, Maggie and Cal are two characters who give the series its charm. However, as a couple, they make the show even more entertaining. Introducing her ex-husband into the mix should make anyone shipping Cal and Maggie nervous. In Season 3, Episode 5, Maggie spoke highly about Liam when chatting with Lola. Seemingly downplaying the extent of their relationship, when reminiscing about summer flings, Maggie clearly still thinks fondly of him. It’s then, in Season 3, Episode 7, Cal learns of Liam from an unearthed letter he found of Maggie’s. Maggie wrote to Liam, breaking it off with him to focus on her career. It was this note that caused Cal to question their relationship briefly in the third season.
Maggie and Cal’s Relationship in ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ Deserves a Chance
In Season 1, Episode 5, it’s revealed Cal is a widow. While talking to Maggie, he discloses his wife passed away due to ALS. This revelation from Cal further exposes another similarity between the two. Both he and Maggie are emotionally guarded from their individual storied pasts. Vulnerable, their relationship was a slow burn but one that was worth the wait. With that being said, introducing a love triangle seems like it’s just throwing in another conflict for conflict’s sake. Both of them finally deserve happiness after a life full of obstacles. With the show recently hitting Netflix, along with a Season 4 greenlit, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered. Such as, who exactly is Liam to Maggie now, and is her and Cal’s relationship in danger?
All episodes of Sullivan’s Crossing are available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
