“Sirens” just dropped on Netflix, and it’s already at the top of the streaming charts. One of the most bingeable series of the spring dives into the world of the ultra-rich — and features some very big names and familiar faces. Here’s why you recognize so many of the stars of “Sirens.”
‘Sirens’ Cast Includes 2 Hollywood Icons
Oscar winner Julianne Moore plays Michaela Kell, a billionaire’s wife and former attorney-turned-activist, philanthropist, and socialite on the Netflix megahit. She’s been a silver screen staple for three decades, delivering memorable performances in films like “The Big Lebowski,” “Hannibal,” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”
She received Academy Award nominations for her roles in “Boogie Nights,” “The End of the Affair,” “The Hours,” and “Far From Heaven.” In 2015, she took home the Best Actress trophy for her performance in “Still Alice,” playing a woman with early-onset dementia.
Her billionaire husband, Peter Kell, is played by Kevin Bacon. He first stole our hearts back in 1984 with his dance moves in “Footloose.” In the four decades since, Bacon has starred in over 100 movies and TV shows. Among his credits are “Friday the 13th,” “Tremors,” “Apollo 13,” “JFK,” and the addictive drama “The Following.” Bacon also starred alongside Moore in “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”
Why Do Meghann Fahy and Millie Alcock Look So Familiar?
“Sirens” stars Meghann Fahy as a frustrated young woman named Devon, who is a caretaker for her father who has early-onset dementia. Millie Alcock stars as her sister Simone, who works at the Kell’s lavish New England estate.
When Devon arrives at the estate to see her sister, she soon realizes that Simone is addicted to a cultish life of luxury that Michaela provides to her as her personal assistant. Devon decides that Simone needs an intervention.
Fahy is recognizable to many because of her turn as Daphne in season 2 of “The White Lotus.” Before that, she played Hannah O’Connor on the daytime soap “One Life to Live,” and Sutton Brady in the magazine drama “The Bold Type.” Her first-ever appearance on TV was in a season 3 episode of “Gossip Girl” titled “The Lost Boy.”
Milly Alcock is mostly known for her work as a young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of “Game of Thrones.” She shared the role with Emma D’Arcy. The Australian’s resume also includes the comedy drama series “Upright with Tim Minchin,” and shows like “Reckoning,” “The Gloaming,” and “A Place to Call Home.”
