Shortly before Ozzy Osbourne’s death, his son Jack opened up about his distant relationship to sister Aimee
“We don’t have a great relationship, she’ll be the first to tell you that, so it’s no secret,” he told the Disrespectfully podcast

The Osbournes aren’t immune to the ebbs and flows of family relationships.
In an interview on the Disrespectfully podcast published about a week before Ozzy Osbourne’s death at age 76 on July 22, his son Jack opened up about his distant relationship to older sister Aimee, who notably didn’t appear on the family’s hit 2000s reality show.
“Back then she really wanted to be a musician, and the kind of musician she wanted to be was like a Fiona Apple, Mazzy Star, like this kind of obscure, mysterious, moody [artist],” said Jack, 39, of why Aimee, 41, wasn’t on The Osbournes, which ran on MTV from 2002 to 2005. “And she deemed doing a show on MTV as low-hanging fruit. She was like, ‘I’m not going to be seen riding coattails,’ kind of thing. That’s how she perceived it.”
He continued, “Once the show was hugely successful I think she was kind of like, ‘Well I can’t now come on because I don’t want to be seen even more as jumping on the bandwagon.’ And so she just kind of dug her heels in and wanted to be relatively private and obscure.”
Aimee largely opts out of the spotlight, though she has released music under the band name ARO, comprised of her initials. As for whether or not she regretted not joining the reality series, Jack admittedly wasn’t sure.
“I’ve never had the conversation with her; we’re not close at all. We don’t have a great relationship — she’ll be the first to tell you that, so it’s no secret,” he said.
Jack continued, “I’ve never asked her outright, ‘Do you regret it?’ I think there must be a level of like, ‘Hey, my life would have probably been different than what it is if I’d done that,’ so I don’t know, I think I would feel like I would have regretted it.”
In August 2020, Aimee gave an interview to New York’s Q1043 radio program about why she didn’t join The Osbournes and said she “always really valued my privacy within that family.”
“And for me personally, and for who I am, you know, as far as morally and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn’t really line up with what I saw my future as,” she continued at the time. “It definitely worked great for the rest of my family, but for me, and who I am, I just knew it was never something that I would have been able to consider realistically.”

Aimee recently made a rare public appearance for Ozzy’s funeral procession in the city of Birmingham, England on Wednesday, July 30.
The musician stopped on the Black Sabbath bridge alongside mom Sharon and sister Kelly, who held her hand, as well as Jack and Ozzy’s son Louis. Aimee sported a black veil and beret, as well as a black suit, as she tearfully said goodbye to her father with her family.

Upon Ozzy’s death on July 22, the Osbourne family released a shared statement to PEOPLE.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” they said at the time. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Aimee is the eldest of Ozzy’s kids with Sharon, to whom he was married for more than 40 years. In total, the rock legend was dad to six children: Jessica and Louis with ex Thelma Riley, as well as son Elliot, Riley’s son from a prior relationship, whom Ozzy adopted. He and Sharon shared Aimee, Kelly and Jack.
