And we won’t have to wait too long to see the new episodes, either. The third season will premiere in 2026. “We’ve got a lot of things to do,” showrunner, creator, and executive producer Melanie Halsall tells Tudum.
Learn more about what Season 3 has in store below.
What will happen in My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3?
This article contains major character or plot details.
Season 2 ends on a massive cliff-hanger for our characters. In the last few moments of the finale, Cole finally confesses his true feelings for Jackie. He loves her, and he’s tired of fighting it. And shocker! She tells him she loves him back.
But there’s a complication: she and Alex have been secretly seeing each other for the back half of the season. Just as Cole and Jackie are about to kiss, we find out Alex has been listening to their conversation the entire time.
Before they can have it out, Alex and Cole’s older brother Will (Johnny Link) arrives with an ambulance not far behind him: and it’s about their dad, George (Marc Blucas). Then we cut to black!
Heading into Season 3, Halsall would love to see what happens between Jackie and Cole, and between Alex and Cole. “It was a pretty big revelation at the end of Season 2, and we can’t just ignore that,” she tells Tudum. “She also can’t keep bouncing between two boys. How we tackle that will be a really interesting challenge, and I’m looking forward to that.”
Along with his co-stars, Gentry certainly wants to know what will happen next for the trio. “I don’t know how they’re going to recover from all of this trauma that’s just ensued,” he says. “You want to talk about an elephant in the room, that’s a massive one.”
Halsall is also eager to see where the new romance between Kiley (Mya Lowe) and Dylan (Kolton Stewart) goes. “I want to see what effect it has on Alex,” she says.
Heading into Season 3, Halsall would love to see what happens now that Cole has coached his football team to victory and Alex has joined the rodeo team that his trainer (and pseudo-love interest) Blake (Natalie Sharp)’s dad sponsors.
The showrunner also hasn’t forgotten about Jackie’s goal to become student body president. “We’ll look at that and how she deals with Alex and the fallout in the family,” she says. Halsall also knows the importance of Jackie nurturing her friendship with Grace (Ellie O’Brien) going forward, after they had a heart-to-heart in the Season 2 finale where Jackie admitted she took her best friend for granted. “Grace is the person that’s always on hand to help Jackie, but she doesn’t seem to have any needs of her own,” says Halsall. “She does have needs of her own, and it’s important for Jackie to realize that, too.”
While filming Season 1, Halsall told Tudum that she had high hopes for the series’ longevity. “I definitely still believe that,” she says. “I love the teenage stories and what we do with those characters. But I think we have a lot of potential to tell stories that are intergenerational. I’d love to be able to do more of that in Season 3.”
Some of those adult relationships Halsall is curious about include guidance counselor Tara’s (Ashley Tavares) dynamic with English teacher Nikhil (Moheb Jindran) and her flirtation with Jackie’s uncle Richard (Alex Quijano) that was hinted at in the Season 1 finale. “That’s a storyline I’d really like to follow,” says Halsall. The creator also has potential storylines in mind for Will’s wife Hayley (Zoë Soul), who was mainly in Chile this season working on her master’s thesis, and Grace’s mom Joanne (Janet Kidder). “It was nice for [Walter matriarch] Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) to have a friend. I’d like to see more.”
Ultimately, Halsall teases that “there is loads of potential.” All we have to say to that is, yeehaw!”
