Au revoir Paris and ciao Rome, it seems!

It’s confirmed, the American in Paris we all love to hate will be returning to our screens after all. That’s right, Emily In Paris will be back for Season 5.

Confirming the details on Instagram, Lily Collins made a joint post with the Emily In Paris account, sharing an image captioned, “It’s official: EMILY IN PARIS is coming back for Season 5!”

The news comes on the heels of the release of Season 4: Part 2, where we were left with quite a few unanswered questions.

So what do we know about Emily In Paris Season 5 so far? Who will be returning and will it even Emily even be in Paris anymore? Or will our favourite fashionista find herself a resident of Rome now? Let’s get into it.

Who is in the Emily In Paris Season 5 cast? 

While we are yet to receive concrete cast details, it’s safe to say that most of your favourites will be returning for the new season.

Of course, we know Lily Collins, our Emily Cooper, will be returning. But who else?

At the end of the last season, when Mindy found out that Emily was moving to Rome, she said, “Well make some room, bitch. Because as soon as I’m back from Shanghai, I’m joining you in Rome.” So our fingers are crossed that we’ll be seeing more of our favourite gal, Ashley Park.

With where Season 4: Part 2 left off for Gabriel and Emily, and him asking Mindy where to find Emily in Rome, it seems probable that our least-favourite love interest will be back in the picture once again. Though, I am obviously rooting for Marcello, who I also assume will be making an appearance in Season 5.

As for Emily’s co-workers, while we don’t have confirmation, we are holding out all the hope that Sylvie, played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Jullian, played by Smauel Arnold, and Luc, played by Bruno Gouery, will all be back.

As far as characters who we may not see returning, it’s safe to say we will not be seeing Paul Forman, who plays Nicolas, back anytime soon, given the way things ended with Mindy. Similarly, it seems, perhaps Camille’s storyline may have also come to an end? Though we’d love to see the beautiful actress Camille Razat back on our screens.

What are the Emily In Paris Season 5 plot details? 

In the announcement for the new season, Lily Collins teases, “There’s no place like Rome!”

Not that it comes as any surprise after the Season 4 finale, but it looks like Season 5 will be taking place predominantly in Rome.

Show creator, Darren Star assured us all that Emily is not done with Paris together.

“It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome,” he said to Tudum.

While we are lacking in plot details at the moment, we can make some educated guesses about the Season 5 plot from how Season 4 ended.

Given how Emily left things with Gabriel, and how things are starting with Marcello, we’ll likely see (yet another) love triangle situation. Bleh. Team Marcello all the way!

Even actress, Lily Collins is excited for the new love interest. She said to Tudum, “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she continues. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

As for Mindy, the chemistry between her and Benoit that the showrunners kept hinting at throughout Season 4, as well as her très dramatic breakup with Nicolas, may be a sign that things could rekindle between the former singing duo? Though, given she plans to join Emily in Rome, we would be totally okay with a new beau for our girl.

Season 4 also introduced a new thorn in Emily’s side in Genevieve, Sylvie’s step-daughter, who starts working at Agence Grateau. While Emily will be heading up the Italian office, I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Genevieve and her honestly confusing schemes.

Whatever happens, we’re excited to see Emily take on a new European city and, hopefully, actually learn some Italian this time!

When is Emily In Paris Season 5 coming out? 

Unfortunately, we are yet to receive a release date for Emily In Paris Season 5. However, if we’ve learnt anything from the previous seasons, we may be in for a little bit of a wait.

Season 3 hit our screens in December 2022, and we didn’t see Part 1 of Season 4 until August the following year!
