“I thought she was never gonna even see that video,” journalist says.
After journalist Kjersti Flaa posted a disastrous interview that she did with Anne Hathaway in 2012, the actress has apologized.
“Yesterday, I did receive an email. It was from Anne Hathaway’s publicist, and he forwarded a message to me from Anne Hathaway,” she said on her show Flaawsome Talk. “I have to say, I was pretty shocked. I had not expected her to reach out to me at all. I thought she was never gonna even see that video. But she did. And she did something pretty amazing.”
The original footage had shown Hathaway, who was speaking to journalists at a press junket to promote Les Misérables, giving curt answers to Flaa’s questions. To add some fun to the interview about the musical, the reporter had asked the actors to sing their responses to the questions, which she would sing to them. Hathaway “was not very positive to that idea,” said Flaa, who noted that costars such as Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman were game.
“I also showed clips of her when she was being quite dismissive towards me, and it created some reactions,” said Flaa, noting that viewers were split on whether Hathaway was being rude or simply having a bad day.
The journalist said Hathaway had since sent her “a long email explaining to me what she was going through right then when she did this interview, and she apologized for being…giving me an awful interview basically,” she said. “It was so touching to me. Just talking about it makes me almost teary eyed, ’cause I was just so grateful that she did that. And it was a very personal note. And we decided that I wouldn’t share exactly what was in the email, but I just wanted to share with you guys what she did.”Flaa said Hathaway also invited her to interview her when the star’s next movie comes out.
“So, yes, I’m really looking forward to that, Anne,” Flaa said. “Thank you so much for doing that.”
Hathaway’s interviewer is the same one in that 2016 clip that shows her congratulating a pregnant Blake Lively on her little bump. Lively, who was pregnant, then said, “Congratulations on your little bump!” Flaa was not pregnant.
She said that her videos are intended to show her audience more about celebrities and her interactions with them.
