Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas might be £250,000 richer, but she’s revealed she is still working at her local gym.
Last month the 28-year-old singer won the latest season of the ITV talent series, with her rendition of Over the Rainbow seeing her beat the 10 other finalists and become the first solo woman ever to win without a dog routine.
She not only secured the significant cash prize, but also a spot in the Royal Variety Performance later this year.
But as Sydnie gets ready to embark on her nationwide tour, she’s explained how she’s yet to quit her day job.
After auditioning for the show, which saw her earn a golden buzzer from Amanda Holden who was moved by her rendition of Tomorrow from musical Annie, Sydnie went straight back to working at the gym.
‘I did my audition and went back to work in the gym,’ she said.

‘Funnily enough, I am still on the rota. I need to go in for a meeting and say I definitely can’t work now,’ she added when speaking to The Sun.
Sydnie also shared that she’s moved back in with her parents in Kent to save money on rent.
Since winning BGT, Sydnie has released the single Starlight Express and is working on an album.
She is also about to embark on her My Way tour.
‘When I got told about the tour, I thought I was just going to be someone’s warm-up,’ she revealed.

‘When they told me it was my tour, I was like, “Oh my God”.’
Also sharing whether BGT creator and judge Simon Cowell had imparted any advice, she said: ‘He told me to choose my own path and to take control.’
Ahead of the final, Sydnie said she was planning on returning to her job no matter the result as she needed the money.
She told The Mirror: ‘I’ve already had two weeks off – and I’m on a zero-hours contract. I have rent to pay!’
However, after winning BGT, some fans said the show had been fixed as Sydnie did already have a career in the industry after previously performing in Grease and Starlight Express.

But speaking to Metro.co.uk, she said the show was her last shot at success.

‘On New Year’s Eve, I had almost thrown in the towel,’ she recalled, adding how she had told her family this was no longer a viable career.
She continued: ‘It just wasn’t sustainable, and I had given it a good go. But then I got onto BGT.
‘It just shows that when you’re at the point of throwing in the towel, it is your time.’
