Sydnie Christmas scooped the £250,000 cash prize, and the chance to sing at the Royal Variety Performance, when she was announced as the winner of Britain’s Got Talent in June
Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas has admitted she is “still on the rota” at her old job.
The singer, who won the ITV talent show last month, revealed she went back to work at her local gym after her sensational audition for judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli. Just a month after scooping the £250,000 cash prize and the chance to sing at the Royal Variety Performance, Sydnie confessed she’s not yet told her bosses she’s quit.
“Funnily enough, I am still on the rota. I need to go in for a meeting and say I definitely can’t work now,” she joked to The Sun. Sydnie blew everyone away with her rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow during the final of BGT, and beat stiff competition from 11 other acts, including magician Jack Rhodes and mother-daughter dance duo Abigail & Afronitaaa to be crowned winner.

Sydnie is now preparing to head out on her own solo tour later this year, and sweetly revealed she initially thought she was performing as a warm-up act for another singer when told she was going on tour. “When they told me it was my tour, I was like, ‘Oh my God’,” she exclaimed.
Sydnie, who won BGT with 27% of the public vote, also said judge Simon Cowell has been giving her some advice on her music career, and revealed he told her to “choose my own path and to take control.” It’s not been an easy few weeks for Sydnie since appearing on the ITV talent show, as just hours after being announced as winner she was forced to hit back at cruel trolls who claimed the show was fixed for her to win.

“Righty then…For the trolls. It’s heart breaking to see. But listen up. You don’t know me or the fierce back bone I have, I owe that to my supportive family and friends,” she fumed in a post on social media. “I’ve been dealing with judgement in this industry all my life. So listen up. YOU CANNOT TOUCH US.”
Sydnie thanked her family and friends for their unwavering support, as she fired: “Because of MY AMAZING FRIENDS, FAMILY AND EVERY SUPPORTER OF MINE. you simply cannot touch us. Just love here, always has been. I hand on heart wish you keyboard warriors happiness. Its hard seeing people so angry. LOVE over powers all.
