Dwayne Johnson backs Rebecca Ferguson for refusing to work with a former co-star who screamed at her
Dwayne Johnson has made it clear that he is not the mysterious former co-star Rebecca Ferguson has said she would refuse to work with again as he offered her his support.
The actress, 40, was promoting her latest film Dune 2 when she recalled a horrible experience while working on another film set.
Actor and wrestler, Johnson, 51, also known as The Rock, appeared opposite the Swedish-born star in 2014’s Hercules.
While generally viewed as a nice guy around Hollywood, his name inevitably came into the mix as fans tried to guess the identity of who Ferguson was alluding to (she said it wasn’t Tom Cruise nor Hugh Jackman).
Replying to a video clip of her interview on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Johnson said: “Hate seeing this but love seeing her stand up to bulls***. Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on set. I love that woman. I’d like to find out who did this.”
Rebecca Ferguson is currently promoting latest movie Dune 2
Appearing on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Ferguson explained: “I remember there was a moment and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out,” she said. “I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed.”
“But because this person was number one on a call sheet, there was no safety net for me,” she said. “So no one had my back. And I would cry walking off set.”
Ferguson claimed that the person would publicly berate her “in front of the whole crew,” saying things like: “You call yourself an actor?” and “This is what I have to work with?”
“I stood there just breaking,” she recalled, admitting she felt totally unsupported.
Eventually, she decided to speak up for herself and told the film’s producers that she refused to continue shooting with the actor.

“I looked at this person and I said, ‘You can F off. I’m gonna work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again,’” she said, adding movie bosses fought back by telling her: “You can’t do this to number one. We have to let this person be on set.”
In response, she insisted she would only act to the back of her costar’s head, which she did for the rest of the movie.
“The director said, ‘You’re right. I am not taking care of everyone else. I’m trying to fluff this person because it’s so unstable,’” she recalled of the conversation. “And it was great from that moment but it took so long for me to get to that.”
While she refused to name the actor in question, she confirmed that it was not Tom Cruise or Hugh Jackman whom she starred with in Mission Impossible and The Greatest Showman respectively.
