Kenyan-Mexican actress, Lupita Nyong’o, was cast as the Greek goddess Athena in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie “The Oddesy”.

Christopher Nolan is building an incredible cast for his next movie, The Odyssey.

Nine actors have already been announced for the project and several of them happen to be Oscar-winning entertainers.

It was recently revealed that the Oppenheimer filmmaker will be making an adaptation of Homer‘s epic poem.

“The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026,” Universal Pictures announced at the end of last year.

The Odyssey chronicles “the ten-year journey of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, back to his home after the fall of Troy,” according to GoodReads. Homer wrote it around the 8th or 7th century BC.

Matt Damon

CASTING ANNOUNCED ON: October 8, 2024

Matt Damon was the first actor attached to the project. He previously appeared in Nolan‘s movies Interstellar and Oppenheimer.

Tom Holland

CASTING ANNOUNCED ON: October 21, 2024

Tom Holland was the second actor attached. This marks his first project with Nolan.

“To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know what it’s about,” Tom told The Dish podcast. “I’m super excited, but it’s been pretty quiet about the project. I met with [Nolan] and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it’s about”

Anne Hathaway

CASTING ANNOUNCED ON: November 8, 2024

Anne Hathaway previously worked with Nolan on The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar.

“I have so many feelings about it that I don’t even know how to articulate,” she told Women’s Wear Daily about working with him for a third time. “It fills me with so much joy … I love Chris and Emma Nolan so much, and to be invited into their world [is] one of the best places you can find yourself.”

She added, “Getting to be invited twice really felt like something, three felt like it would’ve been greedy, so I never let myself hope that that would happen, and that it has makes me emotional, to be perfectly honest. It makes me feel like I’m doing something right.”

Zendaya

CASTING ANNOUNCED ON: November 8, 2024

Zendaya‘s casting was announced at the same time as Anne‘s casting. This will mark her first time working with Nolan and she’ll be reuniting on-screen with real-life boyfriend Tom Holland.

Lupita Nyong’o

CASTING ANNOUNCED ON: November 12, 2024

Lupita Nyong’o is the third Oscar winner to join the project. This is her first time working with Nolan.

Robert Pattinson

CASTING ANNOUNCED ON: November 20, 2024

Robert Pattinson previously starred in Nolan‘s movie Tenet and this will mark his second time working with the director.
