Dwayne the rock johnson to play apocalypse

Marvel Studios has a slew of projects in the pipeline, despite Iger’s announcement of a significant reduction in output. One of the most eagerly awaited is undoubtedly a live-action reboot of ‘X-Men.’

The reboot has been on the cards since Disney acquired the rights to Fox properties like X-Men and Fantastic Four. While we can’t confirm if the rumor we have is directly linked to the X-Men reboot, it certainly seems likely.

Reportedly, Marvel Studios is eyeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to portray the well-known X-Men villain, Apocalypse. Apocalypse was previously portrayed by Oscar Isaac in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse,’ and since Isaac is already cast as Moon Knight in the MCU, it makes sense they’re looking for a different actor.

The Rock has experience with superhero roles, like his recent portrayal of ‘Black Adam.’ Despite Johnson’s solid performance, the movie tanked at the box office, marking a turning point for the DCEU.

Recently, it was revealed that Johnson attempted to use the film to push for his production company to take control of the DCEU. This move ultimately resulted in the hiring of Gunn & Safran, and Henry Cavill parting ways with his agent.

There’s been talk about Johnson’s troubling behavior on recent sets. Sources claim he caused ‘Red One’ an extra $50 million by consistently being late to shoots. He also reportedly refused to use on-set facilities, opting for designated “pee” bottles instead.

Even if it’s just hearsay, Marvel Studios likely wants to avoid more drama with their actors and writers. They’re still dealing with the fallout from Jonathan Majors’ incident, and the firing of ‘X-Men ’97’ creator and writer Beau DeMayo just days before the season 1 premiere remains unexplained.
