After the events of Avengers: Endgame, it is safe to assume that Thanos is well and truly dead. Or is he?
According to actor Josh Brolin, Thanos could indeed make a return to the MCU and considering the current dive into the multiverse, it wouldn’t be the most far-fetched thing to happen.
Marvel Studios is going from strength to strength in recent years with multiple television shows, movies and video games under its belt.
In 2024 alone, we have welcomed three Marvel TV shows and one feature film with Deadpool & Wolverine and 2025 and beyond is expected to follow with some incredible projects.
Most notable of all, perhaps, is the next saga in the Avengers universe with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars expected to hit cinemas in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
Welcoming the Russo brothers back as directors and Robert Downey Jr. in his new role of Doctor Doom, fans are already feeling the hype.
However, with Thanos well and truly killed by Thor (and Tony Stark in an alternate universe), could the villain truly come back in the future?
According to Brolin, he would do “anything the Russos wanted me to do” when asked about his possible return for Avengers: Secret Wars.
“Again, it’s what in his mind fits, what in my mind fits. Thanos has to fit if you’re going to bring him back. I would do anything that the Russos wanted me to do,” the actor said at New York Comic-Con recently.
Although this is by no means a confirmation, fans are feeling extremely excited by the possibility and took to r/MarvelStudios_Rumours to share their thoughts.
“Well, it is a multiversal movie and not having Thanos in it would be criminal. He’s the OG VILLAIN,” the top comment read.
Another said: “Yeah, it’s happening, has to be done properly though.”
It remains to be seen if Thanos will make a reappearance but unfortunately, we still have well over a year until we find out.
