A Family Affair star Nicole Kidman‘s life is seemingly far from a family affair at the moment, and we feel for her. The actress is reportedly struggling as her relationship with her son Connor becomes more estranged by the day.
Kidman shares the 29-year-old with Tom Cruise, and it looks like their son is diving deeper and deeper into the Church of Scientology — the controversial religion for which Cruise has become a celebrity figurehead. Most recently, Connor revealed a new tattoo of the number “1938.” It’s the year Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote the unpublished manuscript, Excalibur, that later became tenants of the Church.
“Nicole’s ache for her son is very real and extremely painful,” a source told New Idea, per The Daily Mail. “But seeing Connor double down on his devotion to Scientology with a permanent inking on his body will be hard for her to take.”

Sources also allege the tattoo is a sign that Connor is more than just your average member of the Church (How could he be with Cruise as his father?!), but rather “some kind of ‘prince’ of Scientology.”
Kidman and Cruise’s 31-year-old daughter Isabella has also remained a member, and both kids reportedly have had an estranged relationship with their mother since their parents split in 2001 and she left the Church.
The Australian actress also shares daughters Sunday, 16 and Faith, 13 with her Australian singer husband, Keith Urban.
Cruise shares 18-year-old daughter Suri with ex-wife Katie Holmes. Both Holmes and Suri have a deeply estranged relationship with Cruise after leaving the Church, so there’s no reason to think Suri will be “some kind of ‘princess’ of Scientology” in the future.
