Sydney Sweeney Joined ‘Madame Web’ to Help Get ‘Anyone But You’ Greenlit by Sony

Sydney Sweeney gained fame for her roles in HBO’s Euphoria (2019–present) and The White Lotus (2021), earning two Primetime Emmy nominations. In 2023, she played Reality Winner in the film Reality and starred in the hit romantic comedy Anyone But You.

In 2024, she appeared in the superhero film Madame Web and both produced and starred in the horror movie Immaculate.

Madame Web was poorly received by critics and flopped at the box office, earning only $100.5 million worldwide against an $80 million budget. In contrast, Anyone But You grossed $120 million more than Madame Web.

According to THR, a source claims that Sydney Sweeney accepted a supporting role in Madame Web to help get Anyone But You greenlit. “She wanted to show she was committed to the team,” said the source from Sony Pictures. Despite Madame Web‘s poor performance, Sweeney still earned $750,000.

Before these films, she starred in Reality, a biopic where she played whistleblower Reality Winner, earning $65,000 for that low-budget drama.
