Lady Gaga Officially Joins Wednesday Season 2

Lady Gaga with Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams
Lady Gaga is about to cross paths with the Addams Family. The singer-actor, who recently appeared in Joker: Folie à Deux, has joined the Season 2 cast of Netflix’s Wednesday.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gaga will appear in a role on Season 2 of Wednesday. While her role is being kept under wraps, the singer-actor is already on set filming her scenes for the show in Europe. Gaga marks the latest new addition to the cast of Wednesday, joining the likes of Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo, who are all set to make their debut in the forthcoming season. Gaga’s casting also comes after Wednesday fans spliced together her 2011 song “Bloody Mary” with a clip of Jenna Ortega dancing in the hit Netflix series, the result of which went viral with over 518 million views on YouTube.

The first season of Wednesday debuted on Netflix in November 2022, following Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy while attempting to master her emerging psychic ability, stop a monstrous killing spree terrorizing the local town of Jericho, and solve a 25-year-old mystery. Season 1 was a massive success for Netflix, repeatedly breaking Nielsen records for streaming viewership. A second season was ordered in January 2023 and began production in May 2024.

Tim Burton Is Back as a Director on Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday marked the first television project Tim Burton had directed episodes for since 2000, with the acclaimed filmmaker helming the first four episodes of Season 1. Series co-creator Alfred Gough recently confirmed that Burton will direct just as many episodes in Season 2. Gough also shared that Burton’s love for both the show and Ortega is what got him to come back for Season 2. “He just loves the show, and he loves doing it and loves working with Jenna, and it’s great. Believe me, we’re thrilled because I’m with you, I would’ve thought he’d be like, ‘I did it. Peace out.’ Yeah. No, he doesn’t do that,” the co-creator said. \

However, at this time, it is unclear exactly which Season 2 episodes Burton will be at the helm for, although Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson have been tapped to direct the remaining four episodes (likely two apiece, although that remains unconfirmed).

Besides Ortega, returning cast members for Wednesday Season 2 include Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer. Additionally, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez, who were guest stars in Season 1 as Wednesday’s mother Morticia, father Gomez, and brother Pugsley, respectively, have all been upped to series regulars for Season 2. Fred Armisen will also be back as Uncle Fester.

The first season of Wednesday is currently streaming on Netflix, with Season 2 expected to premiere on the streamer in 2025.
