Adam Brody revealed major details in his relationship timeline with Leighton Meester which suggests they would’ve never gotten together.
Love tends to have a very unusual way of creeping up on someone, and Cupid tends to show up when you least expect it to. In Hollywood, life tends to get very hectic as actors are required to spend days or even months working on their craft and filming various projects.

While things don’t necessarily exceed the platonic plane when actors meet their peers, some get lucky and find their soulmates while working on projects. And in Adam Brody’s case, he met his lobster (as Phoebe Buffay would say while referring to soulmates) while he was grabbing a bite at a local diner in Los Angeles.
Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester nearly let go of Adam Brody before giving their romance a shot
During an appearance on Podcrushed with Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin, and Sophie Ansari, the former actor of The O.C. revealed how he met Leighton Meester and how it wouldn’t have led to a relationship had she chosen to drown her feelings for him.

Adam Brody mentioned that he met his eventual wife, Meester, at a diner called Canner’s in Los Angeles, a place he used to visit often. Meester was with her associates from the Gossip Girl franchise at the time following a prop party that was hosted by Josh Schwartz and his team.
Brody claimed that though they met, it wasn’t until much later that he got to know her personally and that’s when the sparks ignited. He added,
She’s so nice. She’s so good. And yet, and this is to her credit, she remained elusive to me for so long, you know, and aloof.
Despite explaining the entire scenario with a straight face, it’s obvious by the words Brody had used that he’s completely in love with her. He claimed he was “smitten instantly” as well. Brody added,
I couldn’t get a total read because even though she professes to have been interested in me and all those things, not only did she not pursue that, I mean, she was perfectly willing to let that never happen.
There you go folks, a testament to how one finds love when they least expect to. And if Meester decided to pull the plug on her hopes for him, god only knows if we would’ve ever witnessed them getting married.

Ten years later, Brody and Meester share two children, Arlo Day their daughter, and a son whose name still remains private. Meester also told PEOPLE that they choose to remain private about their personal lives only to allow their children to experience things they never did.
