The latest episode of Agatha All Along featured the coven facing their first trial on the Witches Road. They stumbled upon an elegant house, where they were tempted by what Agatha described as cheap wine.
Once they realized that the wine itself was part of the trial, each member of the coven took a sip. However, Agatha managed to avoid the first taste, as she was suspicious from the start, and Teen also refrained from drinking due to being underage and not fully part of the coven.
It didn’t take long for the coven to realize that the wine was poisoned with Alewife’s Revenge, a potion that induces delirium, hallucinations, loss of motor functions, and ultimately death.
The first trial was straightforward: Jennifer Kale, the potion maker in the coven, was supposed to create the antidote with her coven’s assistance. However, solving the initial puzzle became challenging because Agatha refused to participate with the group.
When the coven discovered that Agatha had not tasted the wine and was thus not poisoned, they realized that the second part of the trial wouldn’t unlock, preventing them from finding the antidote’s ingredients.
Agatha initially resisted drinking the wine until Teen grabbed her glass and insisted he would drink it himself. Understanding that the wine was poisoned and fearing they might fail the first trial and face a grim fate, Agatha took the glass from him and drank the wine, poisoning herself instead.
If you think this was a selfless act on Agatha’s part and her first good deed, you’d be mistaken; she was distressed at the thought of Teen drinking the wine, as he is likely her son.
The show has led us to believe that Scarlet Witch is Teen’s mother, but several significant hints suggest otherwise.
Agatha lost a son, or more accurately, she sacrificed him for the Darkhold, a fact confirmed by Jennifer Kale in episode 3. Jennifer also noted that Agatha wouldn’t recognize her son, implying that many years have passed since then and Agatha likely abandoned the baby while he was still small.
Additionally, Agatha appears strangely disinterested in the sigil cast on Teen, suggesting she may already know his identity and suspects who might have bound him.
Even if she’s uncertain, the fact that she took the poisoned wine from his hands indicates she is at least considering the possibility.
