Arcane star Harry Lloyd has opened up on the possibility of his character Viktor making a future return to the franchise. The animated series, based on the League of Legends video game franchise, was first released on Netflix in November 2021. The show follows the interlinking storylines of multiple Arcane characters across a mythical world. Viktor is an ambitious inventor, who is one of the smartest and most complex characters in the show, but he is plagued by a darkness that contributes to his downfall, and leads to a tragic death at the conclusion of Arcane season 2.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Lloyd gives his opinion on the possibility of his return to the franchise, and whether Viktor could return in some future capacity. When asked whether Viktor could return in any future Arcane spinoff shows, given the scope of Runeterra, Lloyd positively responds, mentioning how the show’s rule-bending means that pretty much anything is possible. Great question. Yeah, all of it. [Laughing] Frankly, I would like to see what is possible. From what I know about this show, kind of everything is. I like when they follow the rules, and I like when they bend them and sometimes even break them a little bit, and I feel that’s very much in line with Viktor’s journey. So we shall see. In terms of their unexplored opportunities within the whole of Runeterra, we’ll see.

What This Means for Viktor’s Arcane Future

Though He’s Gone For Now, The Character Could Be Back

As Lloyd’s comments show, pretty much anything is possible in Arcane, and the scope of the show is such that Viktor could well return in some capacity, despite apparently dying in the Arcane season 2 finale, when he and Jayce dissolved the Arcane realm, seemingly ending their own lives in the process. Ultimately, Viktor understood his mistakes, and his desire to improve humanity ultimately culminated in him saving the world, and embracing the beauty of human existence.

As a complex and flawed character, Viktor was one of the most interesting members of the team, and, though misguided, he enjoyed some of the best character development in the season. The nature of Arcane as a show is such that there is very easily scope for Viktor returning, especially as Arcane season 2 act 3 explored the concept of parallel universes, which could be returned to in later seasons, and this means there is an angle for characters who are gone to potentially return, such as Viktor.

Our Verdict On Viktor’s Return To The Franchise

There Is A Possibility For Spinoff Returns

The nature of the world-building in Arcane, and plot points involving parallel universes, and reversing time, open up many different possibilities for the future of the show, and the return of characters in alternate realities. With three Arcane sequel shows currently in development, I believe that at least one of these could feature Viktor in some capacity, whether it’s via resurrection, time manipulation, alternative timelines, or flashbacks. A character as rich and layered as Viktor played an integral role in Arcane‘s success as a show, and there’s a good chance viewers have not seen the last of him.
