Aubrey Plaza is securing major roles lately, but for us and our readers, her most notable role is as Rio Vidal in the MCU’s Agatha All Along.
While Plaza has officially joined the MCU, she’s not part of the Avengers; instead, she’s taking on something even cooler—joining Agatha Harkness’ coven, which is currently traversing the Witches’ Road.
Plaza plays Rio Vidal, a Green Witch and romantic rival to Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness. Some intriguing interactions between the two were hinted at in Episode 4, and we’re eager to uncover their past, especially given that Rio seems intent on killing Agatha, her former lover.
If Plaza weren’t already part of Agatha’s makeshift coven, she mentioned she would choose a more interesting lineup (though that might depend on who you ask). The actress recently appeared on The Daily Show, where she was asked whom she would want to include in her own coven if given the chance to assemble one.
The actress had interesting picks:
Kamala Harris. Just for fun. And Judy Davis. I would say Mia Farrow, Patti LuPone, and Faye Dunaway. Just all the…you know what I mean. And then, Nicholas Cage, just to like, round it out.
While Harris’ presidential campaign responsibilities are certainly more captivating than traversing the Witches Road, one name that Plaza mentioned for her coven isn’t too far-fetched. And no, we’re not referring to Patti LuPone, who is already part of her coven in the show.
Nicolas Cage famously portrayed Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, in two films before the MCU existed. However, there are rumors that he will reprise his role in the upcoming Avengers film, Secret Wars.
Bringing Ghost Rider and Rio Vidal together in the MCU would make perfect sense, especially since Ghost Rider is part of the supernatural aspect of the MCU that Agatha All Along is currently exploring.
Who knows, perhaps we’ll finally see the rumored Midnight Sons MCU project come to life, allowing Rio Vidal and Johnny Blaze to become members of the same team.
