The BBC, the production company and broadcaster of the science fiction series Doctor Who, responded to numerous complaints from viewers about the show pushing transgender ideology.

The BBC shared, “We have received complaints from viewers who object to the inclusion of a transgender character in the programme and from others who feel there are too few transgender people represented.”

Next, they posted their response, “As regular viewers of Doctor Who will be aware, the show has and will always continue to proudly celebrate diversity and reflect the world we live in. We are always mindful of the content within our episodes.”

The show has seen its self-reported viewership from the BBC decline since the inclusion of male actor Yasmin Finney, who pretends to be a woman, in the first of three 60th anniversary specials, “The Star Beast,” featuring David Tennant as the Doctor.

In fact, the most recent Christmas special had the worst viewership of any episode that premiered a new Doctor except for the very first Doctor Who episode albeit that one saw ratings depressed due to John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

On top of the episode having the worst numbers for the premiere of a new Doctor, it also had the worst ratings for a Doctor Who Christmas special.

Despite the declining ratings, the BBC’s response is on par with the actors from the show have promised. Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the new incarnation of the Doctor, promised new episode would be leaning into his own personal leftist, liberal bubble.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Gatwa said, “As I say, I live in a very leftist, liberal bubble. And in fact, there’s a really great episode coming up next year where we lean into that.”

Gatwa also confirmed the show would discus his race, “Yes, definitely. It would be stupid if we didn’t.”

Gatwa’s co-star Millie Gibson, who plays the Doctor’s companion Ruby Sunday told The Independent that the series would include “so many controversial elements to this season – the good sort of controversy – and it’s what we need to see on our tellies.”

In fact, Gibson admitted these “controversial elements” would be off-putting to many viewers. She said, “Some people might think, ‘This isn’t the Doctor Who I know.’ But I’m really excited to see it … It’s really cool that they’re doing concepts like these and changing it up.”

She also claimed these “controversial elements” were being included so the BBC “will attract a lot of Gen Z” viewers because the show will “go with the times and represent a lot of faces and themes that are really important to see on television.”
