Black Myth Wukong’s Big Update Brings New Fights, Festive Gear, and More

Black Myth: Wukong has rolled out a substantial update, introducing fresh challenges and features to enrich our gaming experience.

After completing the game once, we can access new Keeper’s Shrine challenges: ‘Return of Rivals’ and ‘Gauntlet of Legends’. In ‘Return of Rivals’, we can re-engage in one-on-one battles with previous foes, selecting from three difficulty levels. ‘Gauntlet of Legends’ ups the ante by having us face a series of returning enemies, some boasting new moves, in succession. The difficulty here is influenced by customizable curses, and conquering these gauntlets rewards us with rare treasures. However, if we haven’t defeated certain opponents in the main game, their corresponding challenges won’t be available.

Additionally, the update introduces Journeyer’s Charts, essentially maps that assist in navigation and marking. We can unlock these after meeting the Keeper in Black Wind Mountain, and purchase new ones for each visited territory at shrines. As the developers aptly state, ‘Let the chart chart the journeyer’s journey.’

To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, four special armor pieces have been added. We can claim these under ‘Trailblazer’s Gift’ at any Keeper’s Shrine, allowing for a refreshed look during our adventures.

Beyond these additions, the update, officially titled 1.0.12.16581, addresses various bug fixes and improvements, enhancing performance and resolving localization issues. The Black Myth: Wukong Soundtrack Selection has also been added to the music library, enriching the auditory experience.

Currently, this update is available on the Epic Games Store and is gradually rolling out across other platforms. We might need to wait a bit before accessing all the new features. For detailed patch notes, we can visit Game Science’s official website.

This update arrives just in time for The Game Awards, where Black Myth: Wukong has been nominated in several categories, including best action game, best art direction, best game direction, Player’s Voice award, and game of the year. The event is scheduled for Friday, 13th December, at 1 am in the UK. We can tune in to see how the game fares or catch up on the results later.

There’s also anticipation around a potential Xbox release date for Black Myth: Wukong, possibly announced during The Game Awards. Given the game’s success and recent updates, it’s an exciting time for us to dive back into its rich world and explore the new content.
