As per Deadline, Dynevor will now be starring alongside Efron in Famous, which sees Efron playing both a Hollywood celebrity, James Jansen, and an obsessive fan, Lance Dunkquist, who bears a striking resemblance to Jansen in the upcoming thriller film. Directed by Jody Hill, the story is adapted from Blake Crouch’s novel of the same name and explores a dark obsession with celebrities. Dynevor’s role has not yet been confirmed in the A24 film.
Will Famous Be Another Hit For Blake Crouch?
One Of Crouch’s Novels Had Great Success As A Streaming Series
Famous‘ cast continues to take shape on the heels of another Blake Crouch novel becoming a successful adaptation. Crouch’s science-fiction novel, Dark Matter, was adapted into an Apple TV+ series starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly. The series was well-received and became a streaming hit, leading Apple TV+ to renew it for Dark Matter season 2, even though season 1 fully adapted the events of Crouch’s source material.
Blake Crouch was also the creator and showrunner for Apple TV+’s Dark Matter .
Famous could continue in Dark Matter‘s footsteps and become another hit based on Crouch’s writing. Between her performance in Fair Play and his performance in 2023’s The Iron Claw, both Dynevor and Efron are coming off of projects that earned them some of the best reviews in their careers, making them exciting choices to lead the upcoming thriller. Their involvement can help generate more interest in the film as they work to bring Crouch’s story to life.
The talent in front of and behind the camera bodes well for Famous to be another hit for Crouch, Dynevor, Efron, Hill, Esmail, and everyone involved with the upcoming film.
Another promising sign is that Sam Esmail is among the film’s producers. Esmail was the creator and showrunner for the critically acclaimed show Mr. Robot, whose tone and themes of duality have similarities to Famous‘ eerie and thought-provoking story. The talent in front of and behind the camera bodes well for Famous to be another hit for Crouch, Dynevor, Efron, Hill, Esmail, and everyone involved with the upcoming film.
