John B and Sarah Cameron have come a long way since Outer Banks Season 1. With the drama behind them this season, John B is looking toward their future — one that includes a house, a dog, and kids. But before they do any of that, they might want to make their makeshift wedding vows from Season 2 official. According to Chase Stokes, who plays the series protagonist, a real wedding between the teen lovers is something he would support.
As Outer Banks fans all remember, John B and Sarah exchanged vows while boating home from the Bahamas in Season 2. “By the power vested in me, by the sky, the stars, and the sea, I now pronounce us husband and wife,” Sarah says in the scene, before John B offers her a shred of his father’s bandana in place of an engagement ring.
They keep up the shtick through the Season 3, when John B reveals to his newly returned (and now deceased) dad that he’s married (not legally, of course). And in Season 4, Sarah becomes a little more hellbent on getting that real engagement ring she was promised. In the meantime, she and John B adorably exchange homemade rings — one made out of the old tree at John B’s chateau, and the other made out of empty PBR cans. Classic Pogues.
But when John B brings up plans to start a family in a later episode, Sarah tells him to slow his role, reminding him that she’s only 19 and they have the rest of their lives to do the “boring shit.”
“I think John B should slow his roll in a lot of different ways for sure, but I think it’s warranted,” Stokes told DECIDER over a Zoom interview, noting that he would like to see a real wedding between John B and Sarah at some point in the future. “I think they’ve been through enough and it would be, I think, a cute thing that the fans would love to see.”

Madelyn Cline, on the other hand, understood exactly why her character was hesitant to jump at the chance of starting a family with John B.
“I think probably it had a lot to do with the age thing, the money thing, the house thing, the preparedness thing,” she told us in a separate Zoom interview.
“I think there’s a lot of reasons why she was shutting him down, for sure,” Cline continued. “I think John B is the one who talks a lot and gets grand ideas. And Sarah is also one of the Pogues that likes to kind of reel him back in.”
Outer Banks Season 4, Part 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Part 2 will hit the streamer on Nov. 7.
