Christina Ricci shared new photos of her children, who look just like their mom as Wednesday in the 1990 Addams Family movies.
In a recent celebratory Instagram post, Christina Ricci shared a picture of her wonderful family, and fans can’t help but notice how both her children are basically her twins. The two back-to-back Father’s Day photos show us Ricci’s husband, celebrity hairdresser Mark Hampton, sitting with their daughter Cleopatra, and her older son from a previous marriage, Freddie. And it’s safe to say that if Christina Ricci’s kids look like her, then it’s also true that they boast a striking resemblance to a young Wednesday Addams, who Ricci portrayed when she was just a child herself in the early 1990s!
Though we can’t do a proper side-by-side analysis of Christina Ricci and her children in this particular Instagram post, a quick look at her profile page shows her standing closely to Freddie, and it’s like we’re looking at a carbon copy.
It’s hard to act surprised over the fact that a child looks like their parent, but in this case it’s clear that both of The Addams Family star’s children inherited her facial features in a way that is hard to ignore. Not only are Freddie and Cleopatra’s resting faces proportioned similar to their mother’s, but their mischievous smiles also look exactly like Wednesday Addams’.
Christina Ricci’s portrayal of Wednesday Addams in 1991’s Addams Family was her breakout role, and it seems that to this day she still can’t resist the opportunity to explore the comedic and the macabre in her acting career. But in 2023 we’re seeing Jenna Ortega take on the role of the titular character in the popular Netflix series Wednesday. In the new series, Ricci takes on a supporting role as Marilyn Thornhill, the botany teacher at Nevermore Academy.
It’s not uncommon for former child stars to want to walk away from the roles that made them popular in the first place, but in Ricci’s case, it’s evident that Wednesday Addams is still very much a part of her.
In a way, you could see Christina Ricci’s willingness to take on a supporting role in Wednesday as the ultimate endorsement of the series. In other words, it’s clear that the coming-of-age horror-comedy series is paying proper tribute to both The Addams Family TV series from the 1960’s, as well as the movies that Ricci Starred in when she was just 11 and 13 years old.
30 years later, Christina Ricci looks happy, healthy, and grateful for the life she has built for herself, and it’s comforting to know that she still has an appreciation for the iconic role that gave her career a jump start at such a young age.
And we can’t help but wonder if Cleopatra or Freddie will ever be considered for casting in any other subsequent Addams Family reboots if they decide they also want to pursue acting, because they certainly look the part!
On the Cinematic front, you can see Christina Ricci take on the role of Dr. Dresden Corliss in The Dresden Sun, a science-fiction heist movie. As of now, there is no set release date, but principal photography wrapped in early 2022, and the upcoming film is currently in the post-production phases.
