Fans Fell In Love With Colin Farrell Back in 2022

Back in 2022, the world was introduced to the grim and dark world of Gotham City in Matt Reeves’ iconic film The Batman. Starring Robert Pattinson in the lead role, the film featured Colin Farrell as The Penguin.

At that moment, the world knew that Farrell’s Penguin was something different. A deep and complex man who wanted power above all else, people fell in love with The Penguin.

The end result is the recently released 2024 spin-off The Penguin starring our favorite Colin Farrell in the lead role. The show picks up right after where The Batman left us, as the city erupts into chaos with Carmine Falcone dead.

During that power struggle, the show highlights Oswald Cobb’s rise to power in the underworld of Gotham City. The spin-off also features How I Met Your Mother star Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine Falcone, who is theorized to be Poison Ivy in the future.

Fans had a pretty general idea that The Penguin was going to be a success. However, people had not anticipated just how much the world would actually enjoy the series, and the numbers are enough to prove the point.

The Penguin Has Reached Newer Heights of Success!

Game of Thrones which debuted in the Summer of 2011 gained recognition slowly and steadily. Its successor House of the Dragon found fame quite rapidly but not as much as the original HBO show.

Naturally, the streaming platform housed some of the finest TV shows ever made. Shows like The Sopranos, Chernobyl, and, The Last of Us made HBO their home.

These shows have been highly rated (except Game of Thrones Season 8. Never forget) and The Penguin has now joined the rooster. However, according to a post on X, the recently released show seems to be too good.

Doing some basic math, The Penguin, which currently stands at a score of 54.67 on Television Stats is the highest-rated show right now. When you add the ratings of House of the Dragon, Game of Thrones, and Industry, their score reaches a total of 42.67.

This score is still a whopping 12 ratings lower than The Penguin. The show is so iconic that even the second, third, and, fourth positions are still not enough to compete with Colin Farrell!

The Penguin currently stands at a rating of 8.8/10 on IMDB and a whopping 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. With iconic ratings and Colin Farrell, the show is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
