‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Shocks Us All with Unexpected Update Plans

CD Projekt Red has announced a new update, 2.2, for Cyberpunk 2077, set to be detailed on December 10, 2024, the game’s fourth anniversary. This comes as a surprise, as the developer had previously indicated that major updates had concluded.

The upcoming REDstreams episode will showcase the new features of Update 2.2. Marcin Momot, CD Projekt’s Global Community Director, hinted at more content, stating, ‘the team still has some gas in the tank.’

However, it’s confirmed that this update will not include support for the PlayStation 5 Pro or a New Game Plus mode. Momot clarified, ‘A lot of questions about whether PS5 Pro support and NG+ are coming with Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.2. The answer is no.’

This announcement is unexpected, as CD Projekt Red had previously shifted focus to other projects, such as The Witcher 4 and a Cyberpunk sequel. The company’s Q1 2024 earnings report noted that as of April 30, the development team had moved on to other projects.

Despite this, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen significant success, selling over 30 million copies, with the Phantom Liberty expansion surpassing eight million sales. CD Projekt Red continues to support the game, addressing issues and enhancing the player experience.

The community eagerly anticipates the details of Update 2.2, looking forward to the new features and improvements it will bring to Night City.
