The Star Wars universe is one of the largest fictional universes in existence. George Lucas’s original film concept has expanded into a vast universe with thousands if not millions, of stories since its premiere.

Television series such as The Acolyte and The Mandalorian have attracted a lot of interest in addition to the big-budget movies. The entire franchise, even though some of the projects weren’t as successful as others, is a significant component of modern pop culture.

We recently told you that Disney and Lucasfilm had formally declared their ambitions to produce three Star Wars films between 2026 and 2027, following the completion of The Acolyte. A stand-alone movie focused on Daisy Ridley’s Rey from the Sequel Trilogy was said to be one of those movies.

While the movie had supposedly been moving forward, some recent reports claim that the movie hit a wall, as Disney and Lucasfilm are delaying the production for some other time, possibly shifting to other projects. At the same time, Daisy Ridley commented on her return in an interview, revealing how the haters and “fans” influenced her while she was playing Rey.

We were told that the movie would be a follow-up to Sequel Trilogy’s Episode IX, mostly focused on Rey founding a new Jedi Order. The working name for it was the New Jedi Order. Ridley will be playing Rey again, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is reportedly directing the film based on a scenario by Steven Knight.

Preproduction on the film was meant to be underway, but no release date has been confirmed. However, rumors currently circulating suggest that the two companies are postponing the film, so it may be some time before we see Rey back on the big screen.

But in the midst of all of these rumors, Daisy Ridley spoke with Premiere and shared her thoughts about the role; specifically, she talked about how the haters and the toxic fans who did not receive her character well influenced her personally:

The way some fans reacted to Rey was very harsh. Did you feel that?

No, no, no. I know some people expressed themselves negatively, but I don’t pay attention to that. Because it doesn’t really concern me: I can’t change the way some men view women. Unfortunately, that’s just how society works. And overall, I was very well received. I chose to focus on the positive.

As you can see, Ridley was not really bothered by these so-called fans and she is more than happy to return to the role, as we have reported in our older articles. This is, in our opinion, a very good way to approach this issue, and we can only support the actress in her endeavor to ignore the hate and not let it influence her.
